Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that some 24 year olds are worth training if they already on a high skill. I'm just saying that it takes a lot of dedication and patience :)

I think the theory for training players until 22 is that you don't start training a player at that age. If you train a player from when he is 18 til he is 25 then that is fine, but if you pick up a rookie at 22 then you don't start training them then as it is too slow.

You say you have had 3 pops so far this season, but I think most managers would be frustrated with that. I know I would :P The only way I would be happy with that is if the player already had great skills and so each pop up was just adding a lot to the player. However, in contrary, I am training an 18 year old now, and I have had 9 pops so far. And I expect another 5 this season. So I consider that a major difference in training speed for the different ages, and probably why most managers stop after 22.

ah okay. Yeah I think that unless you have started training since a player was 18, and you are in the top divisions, there is no point in training past 23. The reason I think this is because training at 23 is a lot slower than 18. And if you are planning on training past 23, you will need to be prepared to be paying much higher salarys. So I don't think it is something for everyone to be doing unless they want a world class player, but most teams don't or can't have one.

There are a few ways I can think of.....either learning the hard way (bankruptcy) or learning the hard way (insert carefully selected word here)!!

Does he always throw his toys out of his pram when someone disagrees with him?

actually there is another more reasonable way he may have played for a few seasons dropped out and just 8 weeks ago rejoined

and on topic my best player is 22 and i will be training him for at least two more seasons as every pop now just fills me with joy and excitement

his less amazing 22 year old team mates will probably be moved to other positions and be replaced by 18 year olds
