Didn't have enough characters spare to explain my order but especially since you have a different order in the middle, I'll explain my logic now.

#8 - II.4 Big 8 were always going to be last. Barcelona is experienced, Botanical Power and Hull Radom are trending up fairly quickly and in a season or two may be real powers, but currently if no team can crack 10 average player rating and the best rated team would be 6th in multiple other conferences then you are a weak conference.

#7 - II.3 Big 8 has Flower of Scotland as a wildcard ready to explode the season they decide they have the funds to make a push and are hard to rank as they might be rebuilding this season but also might end up pushing this season (see also Minas Morgul or Stómas in higher-ranked conferences for similarly hard-to-rank potential giants). In the end though, the top team was #17 in division II last season for average rating so difficult to justify higher.

#6 II.2 Great 8 - Glasgow Raptors are always a strong team somewhere around 11, Santa Booker, Raging Seagull and myself all improved noticeably last season, but none of us are exactly scary powerhouses yet, and to be fair we shouldn't be! I am at $375k/week wages, Santa Booker are about $300k, and Raging Seagull $270k. We are probably all overperforming with what we have! Unless one of the top 4 spends big, #6 is where I feel this conference belongs.

#5 II.4 Great 8 - This conference scores higher than the above partly because the weaker teams aren't as weak, and that one of them is Stómas who might decide this is the season to hulk-smash back to the ESL before either Breiðholt and Fimbles (both trending up) become strong enough to be a bigger problem or they get moved to a stronger conference.

#4 II.2 Big 8 - Glasgow Raptors against this confernence's then top 6 last season? 0-6. Raging Seagull 0-6. Santa Booker 1-5. I was 3-3 and was pretty pleased with that. This conference has been stronger than the II.2 Great 8 and until at least a couple of us can have winning records against the top teams in it to prove otherwise then that will remain the case. Also, if you like games where multiple teams have put out tremendous level defence and seem to like to win defensive rockfights 82-68 then this is the place to be!

#3 II.1 Great 8 - 5 teams averaging over 11 means this conference can't be rated lower. But the bottom 3 averaging under 6 means it also can't be rated higher. I expect whoever finishes 5th to potentially be the strongest division 2 team not in the play-offs this season unless one of those top 5 teams botifies.

#2 II.3 Great 8 - Very slightly weaker top end than the number #3 conference but a whole bunch stronger at the bottom with you being 6th rated here and only the #5 conference has a 6th rated team even close in rating. 7th rated Pastizzi were the strongest of the promoted sides so I could see them being ambitious and spending heavily to get more competitive (and will have to to get near the salary floor by the end of season anyway!) and being on a Hull Radom type trajectory as they have a little less improvement needed.

#1 II.1 Big 8 - Quality top 5, 2nd strongest #6, 2nd strongest #7, and the strongest #8 that would be #6 in most conferences. Also Minas Morgul may say he isn't spending for promotion but with a track record of 6 Europa Cup wins in 10 seasons and 6 seasons in the last 10 where he got out of the group stages of the BBB will certainly know how to maximize what he does have on the court whatever he decides! I won't be surprised if at least one of the other teams (Devstry maybe?) goes on a Celestia-style spending spree just in case especially as even if they win out, they would still likely have a high 12, maybe even 13 rating team to overcome from the other conference as Malta Pissedons are basically already that, and KB Peja, The Red Hammers, The Others, or Bardagakappi, could all conceivably be at that level at the end of this season.

I really like your analyses/recaps that you do for all the leagues in the last couple of seasons. The effort that you put in is noteable and I appreciate the sense of community you foster here.

(which is also the reason why I prod you from time to time to ellicit a concise response )

Welcome to the start of season 70!

For any passing new managers who didn't already know I believe Game Rating is calculated by BuzzerManager by how many sub-levels above atrocious-low the combination of outside scoring, inside scoring, outside defense, inside defense, rebounding and offensive flow are at the end of the game.

Average player ratings are a bit wonky the 1st game or two as BuzzerManager seems to average each player to the nearest half-point, while BuzzerBeater itself knows the rating to a tenth of a point so there can be discrepancies. BuzzerManager is near enough however to compare like for like stats for the week and against previous seasons and leaves the need for Excel sheets and so on at the workplace where they belong!

Efficiency when that is mentioned is (Points+Rebounds+Assists+Steals+Blocks−Missed shots−Missed Free Throws-Turnovers).

7 teams with 100+ game rating in game 1 which is one lower than last season but Raging Seagull were only 1 point short and I have no doubts a full-strength Revolta Culé, B.C. would put up that game rating too. 9 teams had 10+ average player rating which is 1 up from last season.

Game 1 Game Ratings :-

128 - 12.2 - Glasgow Blue Jays
118 - 10.9 - Chicago Bulbs II

Any time we manage to get a win against Chicago Bulbs, we class that as a good nights work. It was a tough first half but we won comfortably in the end. Good luck to all managers this season.

Absolutely devastating loss on a buzzerbeater in double overtime after blowing a commanding lead in regulation. This one hurts.

Revolta Cule, take a bow. Your guys were unbelievable tonight and deserved that.

In the match of the night Glasgow Blue Jays put out a concerningly strong for week 2 143 team rating squad and found themselves shocked after a double overtime 138-136 defeat. The Blue Jays had slightly better shooting from both 2 and 3 point distance, and had more assists, steals, and blocks. So how did they lose? Largely because what they lost they lost badly. They were crushed 73-37 in rebounds, Benitez and Detroyer alone at PF and C getting 48 rebounds between them where their Blue Jays equivalents in Luque and Watson got 10, and also as the Blue Jays gave away 11 more fouls to a team shooting 87% fom the charity stripe.

Bibby Brotherhood's 3 man starting line-up gave up 189 to a Glasgow Raptors team who were in no mood to go easy on them. Stat highlights are efficiency of +331 to -16, 92 rebounds to 15, and 17 blocks to 0! If Bibby continue this then further in the season when both enthusiasm rises and cross-conference play starts somebody may hang a 200 point game on them. Fortunato Monsch and his 24 assist game might not be the only all-time divisional record we see this season!

Elsewhere in the Great 8, Locomotive Edinburgh beat Raging Seagull in a game where the home team seemed to play the Edinburgh style of winning rebounding & blocking battles, while the Scots played the Seagull style of sharpshooting. In the end Štolba & Dougall combining for only 6pts in 48 mins at SF may have been the difference between 2 teams at an otherwise similar level.

Locomotive & the Raptors face each other in Edinburgh on Tuesday to keep their unbeaten records.

In the Big 8, Glasgow Blue Jays hit a 150 team game rating in game 3 although were given a fight by Dropito who I suspect went crunch-time like last year's game 6 but did not get the same results losing 99-85. The Dropito starting 5 matched up very well to the Blue Jays' starters but the 2nd unit were bulldozed 26-6 in scoring and +36 to -6 in efficiency.

Skytturnar are the other unbeaten team left after beating Revolta Culé, B.C 116-98. Revolta shot well against a quality Skytturnar defence, but in the end it was 27 free throws to Skytturner against their 6, so when Skytturnar scored 26 of them, they were all but doomed to a defeat.

Game 3 Game Ratings :-

150 - 14.9 - Glasgow Blue Jays
139 - 13.7 - Skytturnar
137 - 11.4 - Dropito

121 - 13.7 - Glasgow Raptors

Many thanks to sailor_man who has risen from his eternal slumber to fix the BuzzerManager API link with BuzzerBeater so we get at least one more of these!

Key game in the Big 8 was Dropito's 100-88 win over Skytturnar. Dropito had 11 more free throws and Skytturnar was well beaten in the reboundiing battle by 59 to 37, and by +122 to +90 in team effieciency so it looked deserved on balance. Dropito have sold $214k wage Lindolfo at C, but have brought in $122k wage Angelo Condrò as a likely replacement for the recently departed Eliran Pessach at SG so they aren't weakening by much!

In the Great 8, Glasgow Raptors and Locomotive Edinburgh both played tactics to avoid each other's strong interior defence with the Raptors running & gunning and Edinburgh pushing the ball. Edinburgh accurately pinned a fast tactic on Glasgow in gameday prep and with that, a home advantage, and stronger perimeter defense, were just strong enough to be about a dozen points ahead for most of the game and ended up 122-113 winners to be the last unbeaten team in the division.

Game 4 Game Rating :-

134 - 11.5 - Dropito
127 - 13.6 - Skytturnar
