It was just a scrimmage against #27 Mexico, but I had to laugh when I saw that we lost by only 5 points yet again. I'm shocked at how well we did, considering we were on the road and their starters salaries were: $134k, $115k, $169k, $245k, and $87k. We don't have a single player over $100k. Yet we were only down 1 with a minute to go, just couldn't finish them off. Oh well, an encouraging sign for next week's game against India.

Lordy lordy, did we almost blow the game against India today! We had a 14 point lead after 1 quarter, but gave it all away by the 3rd quarter. Then India had a 10 point lead with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd. They still had the lead with 7 minutes left in the game, but Stevens and Bedenham tore it up to give us a nice cushion. We were up 115-107 with 20 seconds to go but India had back to back 3's to cut the lead to 115-113. Thank God for Rob Quinton's free throw shooting, as he made both to give us a 4 point lead, and we needed every point as India hit another 3 at the buzzer! Final score 117-116. We actually won a close game for once! Here's the boxscore: (11253)

MVP's were Stevens and Bedenham. Stevens scored 26 points on 12-20 shooting, while Bedenham had 20 points and 21 rebounds on 9-13 shooting, and he even went 2-3 from 3!

We're now 1-1 and in 4th place with Hanguk (Korea) next. Keep up the training!

Interesting that you would tell us that you have a suprise for us..... Not many things it could be so won't be much of a suprise now.....

Big win for the Kiwis today. 102-82 victory over Hanguk, which puts us at 2-1. Here's the box score: (11257)

Players of the game were Matakorama, getting some rare minutes due to proficient GS, leading the team with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in only 33 minutes. Yingxing was also great with 14 points and 21 rebounds.

We still remain in 4th place with a big game against Kazakhstan next week. Here's hoping for good Game Shape!
