I totally agree with this, we need to restrict the voting right (at least in most, if not all cases) to managers who are participating to the league (or possibly in some cases, also to managers who have been granted a place at the league for the next season, which doesn't apply right now).

Also, regarding editing the initial post of a new thread: yes, once you have started a new thread, the manager who started the thread is the ONLY manager who can edit that first post. So, let's put it altogether:

1. Decide on the name (keep the tally and once it's clear, it's done)
2. Wagner, you cans tart a new thread using the newly agreed name as its title

Yes, I will start it on Global. But I'd like to ask first for the naming though, what do you guys think:

A) Should we use only the abbreviation, or rather tiltle like Homegrown League (***ABBREVIATION HERE***). People might not get the idea (and not so easily click the link) from the abbreviation alone?

B) Do you guys (still?) agree it's a good idea establish a new forum thread to Homegrown league for each and every season, as that's what I suggested earlier?
It can use the same intro texts, links and such, so it creates only little added work to create it for each season.

It would be done to ensure a lot easier searching of essential/interesting information. It would benefit homegrown managers, all possibly interested (in homegrown teams) managers, and league Commissioner.
It would provide easier searchability for non-Supporters especially - otherwise it might be best to stick with the same forum thread from season to season, but like mentioned, it would become a navigational nightmare like this Homegrown teams II-thread has become). For instance MrJ agreed earlier that's it's a good idea.

C) We probably should add to beginning or end (latter?) of title 'Season 1' (***OR SEASON 68***?), yes?

D) Should we add something else to the title, such as word 'Official thread of' (Homegrown League)?

3. As Commissioner, Wagner, which has been determined now by enough votes, you can decide what goes into that first post and can edit it as you see fit.

While not critical as it can be edited later (but it affects my design choices), do you think it's better for me to write all those articles from the scratch, or should/could I place some links to for instance MrJ's posts? (Post about League system, What is a homegrown team, etc., or does it look lame if there are such links to forum posts instead of information presented in first few posts)?

What I have done in previous years, Wagner, knowing the first posts would be needed, was to put a 'TBA' (To Be Advised) label on the first post, or a couple posts after it, knowing they might need to be used specifically for the League.

For example, you start the new thread with a post about whatever. Then you quickly reply to that post (before anyone else does) and simply write TBA or maybe 'For future use' etc. You could do this with two or three posts immediately after the initial post. In this way, you may choose to have the first post as 'Information', the second post about 'League Game Results' etc etc. At least you then have options knowing you can't go back and add posts to the original.

This is very good advice indeed - that's definitely something worth doing. While it's obvious, I didn't come to think of it's importance as I have such a little experience on starting forum threads, especially the ones that benefit a lot from certain kind of structure - I appreciate that 'pro tip'! (+1)

So anyone reading this, when you see the post for the new league being created by me, please don't comment to it before you´ll see intro plus 3-5 TBA posts from me![

I sent reminders by a BBMail to rest of us participants who haven't yet voted for a league name, as I hope everyone will give their opinion on this. It's one of the easier decisions, so I do have my hopes up that we'll see most, if not all managers voting in this "poll"!

Also, if you have any time to spare for this league, please read some of the discussion of rules and penalties being proposed for this league, and please cast your opinions on any part of it, especially how complicated or simple, harsh or allowing you would prefer these future rules of the league to be. The more you let me know "why" behind your thinking, the better I know how they need to be possibly changed.

Please note, that some possibly problematic scenarios are connected to some of the penalties I suggested in my proposition, and we haven't still discussed them too much. (Therefore, we might have to give up enforcing such penalties for that reason only, in order to remain fair to all). Soon there will be time for that, but first I'd like to hear from everyone what they think of my proposed rules. My proposition (4 long messages) can be found starting from message (324689.336).

As you can see, I have prepared to many possibilities in my proposition as I like a thorough approach, but likely 'simple' and 'complicated' (or something in between) means more or less 14 different things for us, as there are 14 of us.

For managers that have already replied something to the rules/penalties proposition for the league; would you please elaborate if you've mentioned 'I prefer simple rules' etc.

Because so far I have only heard from 2-3 different managers (if I'm not mistaken) a bit more thorough thoughts on what 'simple' penalties/rules mean for them, what do they like or do not like about my proposition, etc.
And as simple is a very subjective term, the better you all describe your opinion and why is that your preference, the better it helps me understand what managers would prefer.

Like everyone already likely knows, as a person who originally suggested starting this league, I have quite strong views on some things considering this league (how I think it/some aspects of it should look like) and there are certain things I'd like to hold on (even if we'd move towards light rules/not as many penalties as in my proposition).
But as we are in this together, I'm sure we're able to find some good middle ground.

Season 1 would in a way be more logical to me, and from that you could also immediately conclude how many seasons have been played so far.

On the other hand, using the season number that reflects to Buzzerbeater season in question might make it easier to find for all managers.

What do you guys think? I'll wait your reply at least a bit less than a day, so you may let us know your opinions on this if you have them.

Waiting for your reply doesn't postpone the launch of forum threads, as I will finalize forum posts meanwhile.
Yes, threads, as I will create a separate forum thread for the box scores for the league (so please let me create it, as it gives me possibility to edit these first posts later on) if you don't mind, or otherwise box scores will fill this new Official HGL thread and following regular discussion would become increasingly and unnecessarily difficult).
Box scores links/match results would be sent to that forum. Possibly also current league table - to be decided.
So for that another forum thread, would name HGL Scores Season 68 (or 1?) be fine?

Earlier on I think you MrJ also proposed penalties such as disqualification from the league if you become non-homegrown during the season, and forfeit losses for the matches if you fail to organize them, etc.

I think what you earlier presented as for the minimum sanction levels is the absolute minimum penalty level we should apply for this league, and I would tighten that initial rule proposition of yours at least by applying very strict rule for becoming non-homegrown. (Having said that, I don't have that rule proposition of yours right here on my hands, and as forum search functionality is a non-existent feature for me being non-Supporter, I don't have time right now on this minute to take a close look at your suggestion, but I said that based on what I remember having read from your proposition).

Speaking of trust, if you compare your earlier proposition to my proposition (that tries to take into account many different possible problematic scenarios), your proposition already in fact leaves very much depending on a trust. So applying a rule set/penalties for violations that are closer to your initial proposition would already give lots of trust to managers, as if they would want, they would be able to mess up the league big time with only those sanctions being applied.

Consequences can be given if and when needed.

In theory this sounds ok/so-so.
However, I don't know about you guys, but I personally would like to:
A) be informed upfront what is it that's allowed and what's not
B) know beforehand what is the penalty (at least approximately) if I break some rule

Unless I know these, having received penalty later on from a violation tastes a lot more sour, than if I had heard of the right and wrong way of doing things and penalties associated to certain violations, so this could also backfire in negative way.

As Commissioner, Wagner, I think you should make any decisions you deem necessary (Re rules, threads, labelling etc) and we will support you. :-)
