You keep missing one point. There is a huge talk of demotion due to lack of competition, true, and for those like you that feel the need to of a solution on this matter I'm all ears to good proposition that can assure you that.
It's worth noticing though that demotion might also come from the feeling of being powerless on the market or in staff bidwars, something that someone not involved in a big community cannot understand.
Reading here and there it seems that a lot of people is hiding behind a mask of nationalism, cozy community (of tankers) and other matters only to protect their DivI incomes. If you recalibrate the economic system you'll find them imploring for a merge.
I like the NTs because it offers more ways to enjoy the game. It is not pride, not nationalism, not racism. Just to be clear.
As to the Div I income. I will gladly merge. I will gladly start in Div III-IV, V or VI even. I want more opponents, and several layers of competition. I want the chance to prove myself in a bigger league. I want to play a dynamic game. I want to have choices in how I can adapt to my enviroment.
No matter how I play now, even if I should succeed (against all odds) in my own country, I will always hear that it is only because I get to tank and earn lots of money. Guess what. So does all the other teams in my nation. It is those I am playing against, not the macro nation team that I just beat in a bid war (hypothetically).
Tanking is the only way to attempt to close the enormous gap between DIV I and newcomers in micro nation. Still I enjoy building a team, and trying out different setups, so I have bought players long before my 16 weeks free from the salary floor, opposite of tanker strategy. Because I need to do something to be entertained. I see the problem. I live it. I don't fight a merge to protect high income in a high income country. Trust me I know this frustration on a higher level, since I am poor in a rich country. You feel very isolated and alone. Take my high micro nation income. I don't want it. I want to play against peers.
I understand that it is hard to fight bid wars against someone with more income, but you are not playing against them. You get to play against others that plays on the same terms and faces the same problems. I will never get an advantage against a macro team because I don't get to play against them... This is always forgotten/not mentioned whenever someone wants to complain about micro nation high incomes.
I am so sick and tired of being accused of being a tanker, when the only way to avoid playing bots all season is to get to the only full division I can, Div I. Where all the 20-30 seasons old teams reside. There is no balance in micro nations. I think the inability to see others problems goes both ways here, but the focus must be on creating a level playing field.
On that note I am for a total merge. Everyone in the same boat. But I hear that is not a welcome thought. I see little resistance against a merge, in some form. There are wishes on what aspect of the game that we should try to incorporate in a new structure, but it is in the best interest of the game. I support a part II thread with a summary and a reviewed look at the current options. What is possible to do, with the proposed changes to the options. What is not possible.
Ho3ein mentioned a thread with a lot of good ideas to improve other aspects of the game, but speaking for myself a merge is welcome as at least one of the steps to improve my BB experience.
