So you are saying the new-comers, who can't find a good competition, have to buy utopia if they want competitiveness(without actually playing the game competitively). This game is free, and BB-Ryan said that this was out of question.

please note: a good competition is not for every Newbie the most important thing. For some it will be important, for others not.
Some newbie join BB to socialize with other users, for others this would be less important

And screw the other people who could enjoy BB in Scotland ? Let's have a country for 4 people.

You also can't ask a newcomer to pay right away to play in private leagues or Utopia. Buzzerbeater is mostly a free game. You need to enjoy it for some times before being willing to pay for something. Since, the newcomer will be in a micronations dominated by 4 teams, they will quickly lose interest in the game and leave, then the next newcomer will also be faced with the same problem lacking other small teams to play against. Thus, never reaching B3 since there "are only about 4 teams that can actually compete" or the willingness to pay to become Supporter and play private leagues.

I understand your point but I think you misunderstood mine. I was saying that there are only 4 teams than can win the league the other teams are then competing against each other for the other play-off spots so they do have something to play for. A couple of the teams in the play-off positions this season are some of the newer players in Scotland. Scotland only gets a new player about 1 in every 4 months because basketball isn't that popular here.

I agree with you over the paying for stuff bit though so I'll take that out my argument.

That is just a one aspect of this game (almost every games), but people play games mainly to have fun and you can't have fun playing against bots or teams that are waay stronger than you.

newcomer usually will moan about this after 2-3 seasons of playing. and why it is a problem to afford 10 bucks per year?

It is not a problem, rather a luxury. If you want to support BB, or want to get some additional features you can pay. Otherwise this is a FREE game.

Why recalibrate the economic system, if we can merge nations right away?

OK don't go on announcing things as if you're a BB !! When was it decided and "CLEAR" that "some form of a merge" will happen ?

As it is clear, many users are completely against a merge.

Also I see many people here saying that new managers leave the game because there is no "competition". I have a friend who's Romanian and she plays basketball in real life just like I do. I introduced BB to her and she signed up. Then some days later I asked here how she was doing in game and I had told her before that she could come to me with any questions regarding the game. She told me that she didn't like the game and that it was too complicated. She didn't know what was going on and she quit playing after just a few logins. I tried to explain to her that once she gets past this starting stage, the game is really fun and enjoyable. But she didn't stay with the game. Now Romania has around 160 users, which is definitely not a micro nation. So obviously, competition was not a problem. And I wonder, if BB can't get a real basketball player to get hooked on the game, how can we expect to see any change by just merging some small countries. That's just absurd.

Some months ago I started a thread in global forum, exactly pointing to this problem. Many users here are saying that managers get bored with the game after some time because there is no competition, but I don't think that's the case. There I talked about how changes are needed. But all the BBs has come up with is a merge !! This is the thread that I started and actually a lot of managers here participated in that thread as well and we talked about what could be done:

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thread=273875&m=1

I'm not saying that what I said is true and should be done.I'm saying that many positive insights were talked about, at least in the thread that I started, which I am aware of. I'm just saying that many suggestions and threads have talked about ways that could help BB, but after all the talk, a merge is what they have been cooking !! Which is just disappointing.
