No but seriously, Wilkins can't be treated as European just because he happens to be born in Europe, he is purebred American.

Ibaka is naturalized Spanish and it's just a "sports nationality", his inclusion here is questionable.

Same for a few others...

Absolutely! Ridiculous to include them, just as ridiculous as including non-NBA players in a thread about best NBA Euros!

Now... on Pau Gasol. Regardless of opinions about what position you *think* he should play, he has played his best NBA basketball as a center, and has in fact struggled when put into the 4.
I used to think he was a natural PF, but have since had the fallacies in my thoughts pointed out to me. I have recanted my position... Pau's better at the anchor.

Right now, Jose. In three years, it wont even be a question lol.

Except... the answer to that question is "Tony Parker"!!!

Oh. And clearly the best European center EVER is Sabonis.

Dont get me wrong I think Parker's better than both. Or at least he was in his prime. I was just comparing Calderon and Rubio :)

Nowitzki is a fantastic player but I can't help to like Pau Gasol more and they can't be compared in style.
Divas is my choice for best European to ever play in the NBA and I am not moving him, this is how Gasol ended up on the 4 :)

Sabonis was not allowed to move to the NBA in his prime, he was already a bit old when he made the jump and, more importantly, plagued by injuries. He couldn't run or jump anymore.
I'd make him the all-time best European center. But not in the NBA.

I would take Dirk over Pau all day every day. He's been the only consistent piece on a Mavericks squad thats made the playoffs like 11 straight times. I respect Pau as a player, but Dirk is a franchise cornerstone, and has a few MVP-quality seasons under his belt. Pau has never been much more than a great second banana and a matchup nightmare.

C- Sabonis
PF- Nowitzki
SF- Kirilenko
SG- Petrovic
PG- Parker

This is the best balanced lineup, able to score, defend and rebound. It's banking on a pre-injury (USSR) Sabonis as well as Kirilenko before his form left him. Putting Pau at C and Peja (as much as I adore him) at SF would be great if they played with three balls on offense and defended chairs.
