Singapore Cup, Season 17: Round 3

Today was a day full of surprises,

Firstup, Team Sleeps (19) the current league II.3 leader LOST to Raging Dragons (41). This source may be trying to warn us that the underdogs are on the rising!

Next up, (2) I Pekanbaru Jaguars 57 - 70 Singapore Slashers II (38). Was the match staged? Well i dunno, but the main 5 players filled by BigBen was kinda disappointing as they were definitely of no match to Slasher's defense!

This match was exciting, (26) II SingSing82 118 - 116 hobos&basketballs II (22). SingSing82 did not put much effort into the game and yet at the last minute leveled the score and WON it. Timur Uzlov was not in his usual potential and even gave the game to SingSing82 by commiting a travelling FOUL! What a game...

Additional highlights

Requiem of Dream won FireFoxes and put an end to FireFoxes's winning streak. ROD's million dollar centre and Guillermo Olmedo(Power Forward) won the game not only by their shots but their excellent reboundings.

SLZH won Esplanade Basketball Club 114 - 70, it seems like SLZH wan this badly! Rebounds were the key point to the game as SLZH's team dominate both offensive and defensive rebounds. KUDOS to the players.

23 II PhantoMech 124 - 102 Final Fantasy XIII II 28
As PhantoMech put more into the game, it was bound for them to win as their PF, C. Mccurdy was too good to be true scoring 30 pts and 18 rebounds.

So far, 3 SBBL teams has been eliminated. This time competition was full of surprises yea?

My match ended great against team gogogo. But as usual disappointing performances by the new players like A. Hendryckx, he just miss too many shots. Ben Strauss and C.Yoo were playing well, 16 points for C.Yoo who went in just for 15 minutes. Unfortunantly, C.Yoo is on the Transfer List and bids had been made. So sorry C.Yoo, i made a profit through you but after this performance, i just can't bear to see you off :(Hopefully i could get somebody easy this time round

The HEAT is on! Almost all computerized player has been eliminated and there is only 2 left. Now almost everybody might be a threat to the another. Will the champion of this season be SLZH again or will Singapore number 1 team Shohoku Backers rob it from him or will there me again another surprise? Everybody stands a chance. Good luck for the next schedule!
Thats all folks! Will be updating schedule for Round 5 morning or afternoon. Do stay TUNE!

Cheers,
Nyxilicious

S17 - Singapore Tournament - Jaguars OUT. Irfan Hamid 50pts brought Singapore Slashers to finish Pekanbaru Jaguars 70-57.

That's it. Tournament Omen. It happened every season with SBBL Champion Pekanbaru Jaguars.

Welcome to the highlight reel. Irfan Bakti Abd Hamid, the future star of SGP U21 NT, was electric down the floor, flashes Jaguars baskets from almost from every spot for his 25 half time points. Trailing 11 after half, Jaguars switched their best defender, Teng Jin Ming, on Hamid. But only lasted for 3rd quarter before Hamid torched them again on 4th, put Jaguars to 20 points hole. And the game ended with 70-57 for Slashers. Teng Jin Ming led Jaguars with 16pts. 18yo Ho Leong Soon registered 11pts 19rebs 3asts and 2blks, but still unable to help Jaguars came out from behind.

On Hobos&Basketball arena Singsing82 rallied back from 14pts deficit on 4th quarter to slip past Hobos&basketball with a dramatic 108-106 win. Both team were exchanging lead before Hobos led briefly after 3rd quarter and start to put it away on 4th with 108-94 with 6 minutes remaining. But Singsing's Yeo Han Fu and Tong Ying Kuan put up a furious 19-5 run to tied the game at 113-113. Hobos commited turnover on their next possession, enabled Singsing to take the lead on Pedro Lombardi layup to make it 115-113 with 15 seconds remaining. Hobos unable to hit any shot on next possession, and Singsing finally survived with the narrow win. Tong Ying Kuan led Singsing with marvelous performance 50pts, and Yeo Han Fu with 25pts. Pedro Lombardi has 18rebounds.

Rise of the Dragon. Newly hired veteran Gianantonio Galante scored 22pts and 14rebs to bring Raging Dragon, new uprising Div II team, to defeat Team Sleeps 92-71. Strong perimeter defense that displayed by RD's young players, has limited Team Sleeps' Singapore NT's player Liew Ze Yeng to 13points. Altough Slovenian U21 Borut Kreslin scored 29pts, he has little help from his teammates.

Meanwhile on this week key matches, SLZH has no problem to shutdown ESP team 114-70. With their full strength, the defending chamipion easily outmatched ESP start from 1st quarter 28-16 and never threathened from that point. Leandro Perrone led SLZH with 22pts and 16rebs, Abilov and Laigre each scored 20pts.

Key Matches Next Week:

Lycans (Rank 8) @ Flyer Sonic (Rank 29)

Best NT Fang Shuang Xiang team against best U21 Peh Jiang Long team. Due to the tight compettion of SBBL, the Lycans need to win some games on league. If Lycans choose to rest Blazev, FSX and Bertero on the cup, this match will be interesting.

Shohoku Backers (Rank 1) @ Bobblehead (Rank 16)

Should be easy one for Shohoku, but not if Bobblehead choose to CT.

Compassvale United (Rank 13) @ Xavis (Rank 11)

Should be tough for Compassvale to play Xavis on the road, they could be drained after two next SBBL league matches.

SLZH (Rank 7) @ Whampoa All-Stars (Rank 4)

S16 Defending Champions vs S15 Defending Champions. Easily will be the match of the week.
