okay cheesy cakes, i didnt even read the last 10 posts, but i bet theres nothing but arguing without any reason. so ill give this example in training. I train OD ( outside defence) for a 18year old and 24 year old ( actually i train also a 27 year old too, but i will only compare those 2). the 18 year old takes me like 3 weeks to get an up, because hes a big man ( gonna be an sf) with 206cm, the 24 year old is 188cm and also takes 3weeks to get a pop. So even if my younling was 20cm smaller, i think it would only save me max a week to get a pop ( actually i think that even too much, it would be 2 pops in į weeks) so training a 24year old isnt that bad, especially if he already has quite high skills... I will also try to check how many weeks do i need to get a 27 OD pop ( had already 1 this season, pretty soon it will come) and tell you here. But! dont forget, there are many things that depends on how fast a player gets a pop, like not losing his minutes, the level of coach ( mine's 6), hes height and his other skills.

Nice example but the height difference really will offset alot of the age difference.. if the heights were similar then this would be a great example. It is however comforting to read that 24yo still pops with regularity and somewhat disturbing that the height of the 18yo slows him down despite his tender age. This should at least answer the questions of those trying to train someone of the wrong height at age 23-25.

The key thing to note though, is that although you are saying that a 24 year old still trains with regular pops, you need to consider that he is taking 3 weeks to get a pop with a level 6 trainer. A level 4 trainer is probably taking a bit longer.

However, I suppose if you are dedicated enough, you can still train a 24 year old :)

Let me assure you that on the right 24yo - each skill up is just as rewarding!! (least thats what I convince myself!!)

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that some 24 year olds are worth training if they already on a high skill. I'm just saying that it takes a lot of dedication and patience :)

I think the theory for training players until 22 is that you don't start training a player at that age. If you train a player from when he is 18 til he is 25 then that is fine, but if you pick up a rookie at 22 then you don't start training them then as it is too slow.

You say you have had 3 pops so far this season, but I think most managers would be frustrated with that. I know I would :P The only way I would be happy with that is if the player already had great skills and so each pop up was just adding a lot to the player. However, in contrary, I am training an 18 year old now, and I have had 9 pops so far. And I expect another 5 this season. So I consider that a major difference in training speed for the different ages, and probably why most managers stop after 22.
