Hello all,
I am Vito. I am a teacher from Hong Kong, teaching English. I consider myself as a naughty guy, so I call myself Naughty Teacher.
I am not a Singaporean. All my relatives and real life friends have negligible knowledge about SGP, but SGP has been in my heart since 4 seasons ago when I joined the SGP U21 staff as a scout. I left the staff team 2 seasons ago because of my work. But now I'm back and I know this game even better. I'm going to prove that I could be a capable and dedicated U21 manager even if I am not a Singaporean.
Why I want to become a manager?Actually I have talked about this in the previous [U21] thread, and you are all welcomed to visit this link:
http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...but it is very long, so here is the short version:
1) Ben is away for the forseeable future. He asked me this favour to step up for him. I want to show him and the whole SGP community that I am worth this trust. (and I would like to state clearly that if I am elected, I would only be the manager for these 2 seasons and I will surely not run for a second term)
2) I found that I could really nuture the growth of SGP with my dedicated work back to the days I'm a scout. I help many pretty new teams to nurture their star players, e.g.Chung Wen Xin, Ang Han Yao. This gives me much sense of archievement. And this makes me confident that I can meet this new challenge.
2) I have the benefits and honour of SGP deep in my heart. I believe I am the best person to lead SGP U21 to a good result and also foster a strong future NT squad.
Why I am the most suitable candidate?1) I am the only candidate who has been a U21 staff. SGP is hosting the Asia Tournament this season. With home court advantage, this is our golden chance to do something big. U21 is a different game. The other teams are all well-managed and the players are quite even. So the use of tactics, the management of enthusiam, the control of point difference, how to make use of HCA... all these little things count a lot. You need a manager who have been in this tournamrnt.
2) Managing U21 is different from managing your own team. The most difficult part is perhaps how to deal with the players' own managers. Some play them every game. Some refuse to train. Some don't train the way you want... It's not as easy as "discussing the player with their owners". And I am a guy who has gone through this. I have some "teacher qualities" which I think are necessary. I am observant. (keeping an eye on so many players is not easy, even though there are others to help) I am perseverant (Once I sent mail after mail to urge the owner sell untrained player). I am patient. (some new owners don't know what you mean and you are basically the game manual) I am a down-to-earth person. I am well-organized. These are all important.
3) I have a broad vision of U21. There are only 72 active managers in SGP, with the number projecting to go downwards in the coming weeks. We need to keep the current managers in the game. We need to have a competitive NT. All these starts with U21 and now is the crucial period. I've always said the result is important, but U21 should serve more as a "human resources factory." I will never push a player to his limit too quickly. I'd rather a player staying with his own team for a long time, and meeting the training target we set for every season. Build your team around your local kid. Train continually and happily. Then the managers will really be immersed in the game. (like Flyer Sonic having PJL).
Indeed we are a small community, but we still get some superb prospects. The important thing is we need to cherish every young blood. And I promise I will try my best to get all 18yo-21yo SGP good prospects well trained. I am sincere. I am hardworking. Please give me a chance to serve the SGP community. But no matter who wins, all the best to SGP!Thanks!
NT
