How is this even a question? Isn't this the most basic element of strategy in any competition? You don't waste resources trying to win unwinnable battles?

No problem ;) . That's basically what I did last year. Identified the teams that were direct competitors and tried to win those games. Did the same with the matchups against the other conference. In the end I won 8 of the 11 "winnable" games. Throwing away some games does actually make minute management a little easier. Good luck ;)

Well, I`m sorry for asking such an unreasonable question in your opinion.

I just don`t like the idea of throwing games.
