Thanks for volunteering, 2 new ones are still needed (who weren't volunteers on Season 1) if all Season 1 volunteers still want to remain in that same role for Season 2!

For those that are interested and/or are willing to offer their advice/opinion on this league schedule creating matter, this is part of the discussion that we had prior to Season 1 on alternative methods of creating league schedule:
(324689.508) (starting from the "Let's take your list of 8 above as a starting point." and (324689.509) (starting from the "EDIT/addition for the last message")

Mostly about those above links I meant that I´d appreciate if someone would like to take a look at/verify my theory (of manager challenging only teams that are below of them on the list) for functionality, should HGL decide to use it on some further seasons instead of using same schedule from previous season.

As mentioned, the goal on Season 2 is to reuse the league schedule from Season 1, so this is hopefully not an urgent issue.

You can add me as a volunteer too ... but you just need to know that I won't be very available from June 28 to July 14, I think it is possible that the Pick up game's organization takes place during this period

Thank you WiMaOl and demars, I added you guys to the list! Now we have 3 new volunteers, which I think should be enough of new volunteers if all other volunteers from last time agree to be volunteers again? I edited my previous post by adding your names there, but also made a list of managers of whose approval on voluntary question I'm waiting.

The thing is, I'd really prefer to use Season 1 schedule again as there's no really point in changing it (everyone will play everyone once anyway), and quite likely will use it again.

But I'd like to ask any manager that's participating to Season 2 of HGL who is low on tokens to please speak out now, so that I could possibly try to take that into account when editing a schedule for Season 2. I can't give exact promises on token usage, as number 1 thing is to get it done correctly, but if I know someone is very low on them, I'll see what I can do (hopefully that's not the case though).

Personally, I'm not low on tokens and could even "gift" them to someone if need would arise, but that's of course not possible.

As for PU match arranging time for Season 2, just as you said WiMaOl, we might be in a process of organizing during that time you're not around that much.
Unless I'm mistaken (?), a new BB regular league will start on July 12th (draft order must be sent by 6th of July, so BB season starts always on next week's Saturday, right?), so HGL Season 2 would in that case be scheduled to start on Monday July 14th (please anyone correct if I'm mistaken).

So what I could do here is to create a season box score post template with match days written in it quite soon, so that you could easily copy-paste it to your Season 2 box score posts already before your possible holidays (and would only need to send and accept match links and add match links to your basically ready box score posts when they're available - there's still some work with that, but it's still best to have the ground work done to make it as smooth as possible).

Of course those new box score posts would be then created by every manager to Season 2 Official Scores Thread, but if one is in a real hurry (or if I haven't yet established Season 2 Thread at that moment), one can use Season 1 thread as well as long as they'll eventually delete duplicates and copy-paste that post to Season 2 thread (when not in hurry/when thread is available). (Speaking of deleting, one more time: please never delete your own box score posts, they might be needed later on - only exception is if you temporarily create a post and then first transfer it to a proper Season's Thread prior to deleting that duplicate.)

But prior to getting into that, I need to verify which teams are playing for Season 2, and while the list/roster of teams for Season 2 is almost completed, I'm still finalizing/verifying few things before publishing it as a final list (only after which I can proceed to editing Season 1 schedule for Season 2 use).

I thought this was supposed to be a lot more simple second time around, but we haven't even got to the fun part yet... ;)

But in fact it really should be easier this time, but on the other hand summer holidays might cause an added layer of challenge... Well, I believe we'll get through this. Let's try to do things the same way as much as possible as during Season 1 PU match organizing process, which is already quite familiar to all of us.

Of course there might be some different requests this time (if I notice something should be done in different way), but basically it boils down to me providing a schedule, you guys carefully arranging matches on correct days and times, and myself again verifying everything, and then we're ready for Season 2.

Thank you for your confirmation on my reasoning of correct HGL Season 2 starting day (14th of July, 2025)!

So based on that, I just made a new calendar (match days) for HGL Season 2, which everyone can copy-paste to their own Season 2 box score posts, that they create once Official Scores Thread for Season 2 is created. Please note, that in HGL we will not combine box score posts from different seasons, so it's better to wait until new Season 2 Thread is created by me.

* * * * * *

@all participating managers: you need to provide a similar kind of list (as below), a.k.a. your team's own box score post before Season 2 on Season 2 HGL Scores-thread. For new-to-HGL managers nstructions on how to easily create this is found on previous messages, (326590.42) and (326590.43).

But to put it in short, you're free to copy-paste this into your HGL Season 2 box score post (preferably when Official Season 2 Scores Thread is published, and after I've reserved about 11 first posts from that Thread for official use), and then just change your team name to replace 'WAG', and add match box score link (match number) instead of 'xxx' (at [match=xxx]) to all Regular Season matches when matches have been organized.

Eventually you'll need to keep on adding scores of the matches to your own box score posts during the whole season when matches have been played.

I'd like everyone to follow this sort of structure (in your own box score posts) to keep it easier for me to interpret. You may edit it in some ways if you want, like some of you guys have done on Season 1, but please keep all essential information in it and preferably formatting of the post relatively same (as below).

So, here are finally match days for Season 2 of HGL, and you may copy-paste everything below this sentence to your own Season 2 box score post once Season 2 Thread is created. :

Here are box score links to my HGL Season 2 matches and match scores:

HGL Season 1 Playoffs:
(For Playoffs: home team name bolded; home team responsible for sending match challenge)

PO Round 1 (teams ranked 5th-12th): Sunday, September 8th, 2025

PO Round 2 (quarter-finals): Sunday, September 14th, 2025

PO Round 3 (semifinals): Sunday, September 21st, 2025

PO Round 4 (championship and a bronze matches): Sunday, September 28th 2025

Abbreviations used for Playoffs scores:
AQR2 = Automatically Qualified to Round 2 of Playoffs
(this abbreviation is used by Top 4 teams of Regular Season, during First Round of Playoffs when they did not play a match)

NQP = Not Qualified to Playoffs
(teams ranked from 13th to 16th positions on Regular Season, who did not qualify for Playoffs, use this abbreviation)

*DNP* = Did Not Play/Did Not Participate (on this Playoff Round)
(teams can use this abbreviation instead of entering their score of the round, if they have not played this Round match due to losing in the previous Playoff Round, and therefore being out of this season's Playoffs permanently)

As for re-using Season 1 league schedule, it once again got more arduous as for some reason formatting that MrJ and T-Lit used when sending official Season 1 schedule to threads, isn't recognized by my text editing program (while simultaneously, copy-pasting other text from BB forums does include essential formatting such as bolded text).

This creates another layer of challenge/work, as theoretically I could check out the Season 1 schedule and bold everything in it manually. But due to teams changing from Season 1 to Season 2 it's not as simple as just changing couple of names, because I couldn't then use replace function in text editing software to change team names, as it would likely remove/mess up bolding when replacing names (as there's no option to make replaced text automatically bolded or non-bolded), which is essential information in HGL league schedule.

Yes, maybe possible to use search and highlight function and then correct/change everything manually, but automated processes are preferred as they minimize risk for errors - humans after all make most of the errors when accomplishing manual tasks.

Also, if I'd bold everything in text editing software and eventually would get it done that way, of course, surprise surprise, BB text editor doesn't then recognize these bolded texts but I have to manually press ´B´ in BB text editor and cut-paste team name in schedule post manually for 120 times, while at the same time referencing another file about which was the team responsible for sending challenge (a.k.a. bolded team).
We could of course change the practice so that team responsible for challenging would be marked with # or something similar, but it wouldn't remove most problems. Frustrating and arduous at the very least.

Ideas are welcome, if you know how to retain formatting... I've tried to solve it without success. This was written also to give an example, how unexpectedly small hiccups and/or changes can change/affect something in a big way..

Congratulations Hadár, manager of Svätý Jur Snakers for clinching the first ever HGL championship title!

Santa Eufemia Ducks certainly gave SJS a run for their money in the final, and match was up for grabs almost till the end. Santa Eufemia Ducks´ player Fariña unfortunately lost the ball to Ondrej Zlevský when there was only 22 seconds to go and SED trailing by 6, so that pretty much nailed the match as Svätý Jur Snakers wasn't doing too bad from the charity stripe today (19 out of 22). Also difference in rebounds was somewhat significant, favoring SJS 51 to 37.

Also congratulations to GM-Enzo and Deano25 for Silver and Bronze medals, respectively! Having said that, WiMaOl can definitely also be proud of his performance against an opponent with superior Top8-salaries, well done!

It happens to be the case, that medals from HGL Season 1 were distributed to 3 different continents, so can we talk about league being pretty international, or what? :)

Speaking of Bronze match, that was also quite exciting, teams being only 4 points apart before the start of 4th. It was still a 5 point game when there was 4:30 remaining in a game clock, but as Heywood Big Dogs were able to dominate on the glass (49-34 advantage to HEY) and beat WiMaOlCa by 8 in the last quarter, Bronze medals travel to Australia on Season 1.

Thank you very much everyone for participating on HGL Season 1, and I'm already looking forward to Season 2 - work for that is under way and announcements about it are being done soon, so stay tuned! :)

You summed it up nicely. The final was tough and close. I'm glad I won the first season and I'm already looking forward to the second season.

Thanks Hadár! And I'm very glad to see you on Season 2...
Special thanks for your special statistics throughout the season, not too many leagues in whole BB (well, I guess only the BB league you´re playing in and HGL) receive such a nice bonus in form of stats - for someone who loves stats such as myself that's always a treat!

While the All-Time HGL Stats/Records-post is still very much lacking, I updated some of the records to it including All-Time Medal Table, and it can be found here if someone has already forgot: (326590.15).
