Just to play it safe, here is the link to this weekend's semi final game in a third space.

Ducks v Big Dogs (135018532)

Thanks for the link Deano. I can see it in your box score post, but I definitely appreciate playing it safe.

All Sunday June 15th, 2025 match links are now available for myself (and verified), so technically we're good to go and decide the colors of the medals that will be available for which of the remaining teams on Sunday 22nd!

So as said, all Sunday 15th match links have been added to teams' box score posts except for Santa Eufemia Ducks currently, but he has promised to take care of that (editing of his team box score post) though, so we should be all good.
Many teams have actually not complied with the requirement of editing their box score posts regularly on Season 1.

Some teams have mentioned why they haven't done it, while some haven't mentioned anything and have just not done it regularly. Nevertheless, it has been pointed out numerous times that it's not actually difficult to accomplish that editing, and also why this practice is still (and will be) in place now and in forthcoming seasons of HGL as well. Unfortunately this takes the effort of editing post from every manager, but it's not possible to accomplish such things in a Pickup match based league 100% automatically. I still consider that being a small price to pay, as we think about the return (the joy HGL hopefully also gives to you guys).

I also understand it might be easy to forget editing your post in the beginning (just as anything can be sort of difficult when you're just learning habits/rules), but I think it's also simple enough process so that if you for instance set up a reminder (on calendar/phone/whatever device) for it for few weeks, then it becomes something you'll remember to do continuously "automatically". As mentioned, this has been the first season, and we have been learning practices and I have sort of taken the softer approach due to that. On Season 2 though, I kindly ask all participating managers for instance trying to remember to set up some reminders on editing their team box score posts, if they feel it's something that they struggle to remember to do. I can assure you based on personal experience, reminders are your friends. :)

No surprise results whatsoever during HGL Playoffs (in terms of Official Regular Season Rankings, home teams winning all matches) - will this strong run of favorite teams last until the very end, or are WiMaOlCa or Heywood Big Dogs ready to pull off one of the biggest upset wins of the Season 1? We'll see that in about 2 days - good luck for the every remaining team for the semifinals!

Depuis quand Dusse devient Saint ? (c'est nouveau, ça ??)

I think there always remains a chance, (unless of course we're talking about, say $900K roster vs. $50K roster, in which case the chance becomes very close to 0) and I, if someone, will encourage everyone to keep on believing on their chances even if they're underdogs. :)

As I've mentioned earlier, of course as a role of HGL Commissioner I'm naturally a neutral manager/person, but in real life what I love almost most in many sports (including basketball) is when a huge underdog is able to cause an upset. So I guess I got hold of the spirit, that you were describing in your message... And yes, a lot is often lost in translation, especially in philosophical matters, song lyrics and poetry...

Anyway, like I said, good luck to all for Round Three (semifinal) matches - yes, of course also todays' favorites Svätý Jur Snakers and Santa Eufemia Ducks, even though usually favorites aren't that much in a need for a luck. :)

Semifinal Round (Round Three) of Playoffs didn't require an extra visit to pharmacy for re-stocking your Nitro's, as favorites Svätý Jur Snakers and Santa Eufemia Ducks were able to find ways to keep opposition within a safe distance, winning by 22 and 26 points, respectively.

So as far as last match day of HGL Season 1 is concerned, to quote my official Playoff post:

PO Round 4 (final and a bronze matches): Sunday, June 22nd, 2025:

Home team name bolded.
All games played at Official HGL match times (similar to Regular Season), in other words all matches are played (and finish approximately) simultaneously:

Final:
Rank #1 HAD vs. #2 SED [match=XXX]

Bronze:
Rank #3 HEY vs. #4 WMO [match=XXX]

So Hadár (Svätý Jur Snakers) and Deano25 (Heywood Big Dogs) are now asked to proceed with the match organizing process, and asked to add links to their own box score posts as soon as match has been accepted so that I can verify match specs, and after that I'll be able to add match links to an official playoff post (here: (326590.7).

And as usual, all the specs for the matches (match start time, home/away court balance) remain the same as during the whole Playoffs.

@All HGL managers, that participate on Season 2 of HGL:

As the Season 2 of HGL is closing in fast, I have done some preliminary work in a form of roster eligibility checks of current and new HGL teams.
All teams that have currently non-eligible players on their rosters have been contacted, so that they have plenty of time to solve this before Season 2 starts.

The goal is to continue HGL with 16 teams on Season 2; more on this a bit later.

But as we are likely going to have similar amount of teams for Season 2, we can reuse the HGL schedule from Season 1, after I replace some current team names (4 teams exiting, 4 likely joining for Season 2).

So before this season, we asked HGL managers who wants to become a volunteer when making Pickup match challenges for the Regular Season.

In practice, it means that they are willing to spend more than average (in practice like 11-13) tokens when organizing Regular Season matches. For Season 1 we got this result when asking for volunteers:

Already Volunteered:
1. Wagner
2. MrJ
3. Gccsteel
4.T-Lit
5. Moneta
6. Deano25
7. Paul George
8. Chucarro

So now that MrJ, Deano 25 and Gccsteel are no longer going to be part of HGL on Season 2, who else wants to step up as a volunteer?

In optimal scenario, we'd need three more volunteers (others than those on the list already) so that we would be able to let people know approximately how many tokens they'll be using during Season 2 match organizing process.

Please note: it would be ideal if you´d be willing to volunteer again for Season 2, if you see your name on the above (Season 1) volunteers-list.

If all managers from above list will be volunteers again, we technically have enough new volunteers now that Hadár, WiMaOl and demars volunteered already (on other words, if all same managers volunteer again, that did it last time).

*********

Updateable list of volunteers for HGL Season 2 Pickup match organization:

1. Wagner
2. Hadár *NEW*
3. WiMaOl *NEW*
4. demars *NEW*
5. Moneta
6. Paul George
7. Chucarro

EDIT 23.6.2025: We should now have technically enough new volunteers, if :
- T-Lit would be willing/ready to be volunteers also for Season 2!?

Having said that, it's not a bad thing even if everyone would announce to be volunteers, then I'd just have more free hands to change things in schedule if totally necessary.
That´d be also positive because changing one piece in this match organization process may (or may not) change other parts of it, so I'd prefer keeping changes at 0 (or as close as zero as possible) compared to Season 1 schedule (which has proven to be functional).

Thanks for volunteering, 2 new ones are still needed (who weren't volunteers on Season 1) if all Season 1 volunteers still want to remain in that same role for Season 2!

For those that are interested and/or are willing to offer their advice/opinion on this league schedule creating matter, this is part of the discussion that we had prior to Season 1 on alternative methods of creating league schedule:
(324689.508) (starting from the "Let's take your list of 8 above as a starting point." and (324689.509) (starting from the "EDIT/addition for the last message")

Mostly about those above links I meant that I´d appreciate if someone would like to take a look at/verify my theory (of manager challenging only teams that are below of them on the list) for functionality, should HGL decide to use it on some further seasons instead of using same schedule from previous season.

As mentioned, the goal on Season 2 is to reuse the league schedule from Season 1, so this is hopefully not an urgent issue.

You can add me as a volunteer too ... but you just need to know that I won't be very available from June 28 to July 14, I think it is possible that the Pick up game's organization takes place during this period

Thank you WiMaOl and demars, I added you guys to the list! Now we have 3 new volunteers, which I think should be enough of new volunteers if all other volunteers from last time agree to be volunteers again? I edited my previous post by adding your names there, but also made a list of managers of whose approval on voluntary question I'm waiting.

The thing is, I'd really prefer to use Season 1 schedule again as there's no really point in changing it (everyone will play everyone once anyway), and quite likely will use it again.

But I'd like to ask any manager that's participating to Season 2 of HGL who is low on tokens to please speak out now, so that I could possibly try to take that into account when editing a schedule for Season 2. I can't give exact promises on token usage, as number 1 thing is to get it done correctly, but if I know someone is very low on them, I'll see what I can do (hopefully that's not the case though).

Personally, I'm not low on tokens and could even "gift" them to someone if need would arise, but that's of course not possible.

As for PU match arranging time for Season 2, just as you said WiMaOl, we might be in a process of organizing during that time you're not around that much.
Unless I'm mistaken (?), a new BB regular league will start on July 12th (draft order must be sent by 6th of July, so BB season starts always on next week's Saturday, right?), so HGL Season 2 would in that case be scheduled to start on Monday July 14th (please anyone correct if I'm mistaken).

So what I could do here is to create a season box score post template with match days written in it quite soon, so that you could easily copy-paste it to your Season 2 box score posts already before your possible holidays (and would only need to send and accept match links and add match links to your basically ready box score posts when they're available - there's still some work with that, but it's still best to have the ground work done to make it as smooth as possible).

Of course those new box score posts would be then created by every manager to Season 2 Official Scores Thread, but if one is in a real hurry (or if I haven't yet established Season 2 Thread at that moment), one can use Season 1 thread as well as long as they'll eventually delete duplicates and copy-paste that post to Season 2 thread (when not in hurry/when thread is available). (Speaking of deleting, one more time: please never delete your own box score posts, they might be needed later on - only exception is if you temporarily create a post and then first transfer it to a proper Season's Thread prior to deleting that duplicate.)

But prior to getting into that, I need to verify which teams are playing for Season 2, and while the list/roster of teams for Season 2 is almost completed, I'm still finalizing/verifying few things before publishing it as a final list (only after which I can proceed to editing Season 1 schedule for Season 2 use).

I thought this was supposed to be a lot more simple second time around, but we haven't even got to the fun part yet... ;)

But in fact it really should be easier this time, but on the other hand summer holidays might cause an added layer of challenge... Well, I believe we'll get through this. Let's try to do things the same way as much as possible as during Season 1 PU match organizing process, which is already quite familiar to all of us.

Of course there might be some different requests this time (if I notice something should be done in different way), but basically it boils down to me providing a schedule, you guys carefully arranging matches on correct days and times, and myself again verifying everything, and then we're ready for Season 2.
