Steaming hot batch of HGL Team Stats "out of the oven" again (here: (326590.9)), reflecting team performance after Round 15!

So as these stats are formed after full Regular Season has been played, this of course means, that now as everyone has played against everyone else, these stats are 100% comparable to each other and reflect team performance "correctly/fairly" when compared to each other.

To celebrate the beginning of first ever HGL Playoffs, there's also another additional stats category available, which also reflects the team performance levels at the end of Regular Season (after 15 Rounds):
Team Fouls and Opponent Fouls
(which I only update to this post due to character limitations on above linked team stats post).

***This same post has already been sent to Official HGL Scores Thread, so if you have read this there and took action, you can skip this post completely. However, to ensure everyone sees this (as I don't know if some HGL managers follow only this and not the Scores Thread), I'll send this on this thread as well.***
__________________________________________________

In terms of everyone filling out their season box score posts:
As a reminder, in addition to continuing the same way of informing match links and match scores in written numbers in your box score posts, I'd appreciate it if you all would follow my suggestions on how to fill your box score post during Playoff time, including adding something to every round even if you are not playing or are not continuing in HGL on Season 2 (automatically qualified to Round 2, or being a team that did not qualify for playoffs at all).

I will quote my team box score post below, so that you see what I mean with filling out your box score posts:

HGL Season 1 Playoffs:
(For Playoffs: home team name bolded)

PO Round 1 (teams ranked 5th-12th): Sunday, June 1st, 2025 WAG vs. Madrid Chotis (135006289) 94-83

PO Round 2 (quarter-finals): Sunday, June 8th, 2025 WAG vs. Svätý Jur Snakers [match=XXX]

PO Round 3 (semifinals): Sunday, June 15th, 2025

PO Round 4 (final and a bronze matches): Sunday, June 22nd, 2025

Abbreviations used for Playoffs scores:
AQR2 = Automatically Qualified to Round 2 of Playoffs
(this abbreviation is used by Top 4 teams of Regular Season, during First Round of Playoffs when they did not play a match)

NQP = Not Qualified to Playoffs
(teams ranked from 13th to 16th positions on Regular Season, who did not qualify for Playoffs, use this abbreviation)

DNP = Did Not Play (on this Playoff Round)
(teams can use this abbreviation instead of entering their score of the round, if they have not played this Round match due to losing in the previous Playoff Round, and therefore being out of this season's Playoffs permanently)

It will be very hard, or practically in many cases impossible for me to "automatically" remember later on (say, after multiple seasons) why this and this teams box score is lacking on links/scores, for this and this Playoff Round, on this and this year. (Is it because team didn't play due to being automatically qualified for Round 2, or didn't qualify for playoffs at all, or due to not just wanting to write anything to their box score posts)?

This can make my life easier in many ways, and at least if and when certain all-time HGL stats are being published, these box score posts of yours may be important/come in very handy.
Not to mention, that they are again an important part of playing it safe - it's always best to have scores and links at least in two places, that are clearly defined (so that I know where I can find them if need arises).

As an another reminder, please don't ever delete your HGL box score posts (even if you wouldn't feel like you need them anymore), as those might come in handy or necessary for me/ for HGL later on.

Can someone remind me who I’m meant to play in round 2? I can’t find the draw after the first week of finals. Once I know I’ll send a request to them.

Hello Deano25,
As Paul George from Rajdersi mentioned, you are playing against him on Second Round.
It is especially important to send challenge on your home court (as you are higher ranked team) and on designated official HGL match time (just as during Regular Season PU match organizing process).

As mentioned earlier, from the beginning of the Season 1 Playoffs I have kept updating an Official HGL Playoff post (here: (326590.7)), where everyone can check out their teams' next opponent, and can find out all match links (and scores, when matches have been played).

So in that sense that Playoff post is similar to those 2 Regular Season schedule/scores posts.

However, it is necessary for all teams to follow that aforementioned Official Playoff post for the duration of the whole Playoffs, with certain exceptions though:
- It's not absolutely necessary to follow it regularly after finding out you are not qualified to Playoffs at all, or
- after you lose on First or Second Round match.

Losing on Third Round (semi-final stage) guarantees you a bronze medal game, so even if you lose on Third Round you need to remember to set up a bronze match.

It also happens to the best ;)

What also tends to happen to the best more often than not is that they tend to win, like today ;)

Speaking of that, no overtimes are played anymore (6 hours after matches started ;p), so we have final results from Second Round (quarter-finals) of Playoffs.

To quote the Official Playoff post (here: (326590.7)):

PO Round 3 (semifinals): Sunday, June 15th, 2025:

Home team name bolded.
All games played at Official HGL match times (similar to Regular Season matches), in other words all matches are played (and will finish approximately) simultaneously:

Rank #1 HAD vs. #4 WMO

Rank #2 SED vs. #3 HEY

So with results and official confirmation of next round matchups available, we're now ready to proceed in match organizing process for semifinals.
Hadár and GM-Enzo are officially responsible for sending challenges so both of you please proceed with match organizing process as soon as you see this message.

All the details when organizing matches for semifinal round and for final/bronze matches naturally remain the same for the remainder of the Season 1:
- match time remains the same (official designated HGL match time)
- match is always played on home court of better ranked team; in this case naturally on home courts of Svätý Jur Snakers and Santa Eufemia Ducks.

Ducks v Big Dogs (135018532)

Thanks for the link Deano. I can see it in your box score post, but I definitely appreciate playing it safe.

All Sunday June 15th, 2025 match links are now available for myself (and verified), so technically we're good to go and decide the colors of the medals that will be available for which of the remaining teams on Sunday 22nd!

So as said, all Sunday 15th match links have been added to teams' box score posts except for Santa Eufemia Ducks currently, but he has promised to take care of that (editing of his team box score post) though, so we should be all good.
Many teams have actually not complied with the requirement of editing their box score posts regularly on Season 1.

Some teams have mentioned why they haven't done it, while some haven't mentioned anything and have just not done it regularly. Nevertheless, it has been pointed out numerous times that it's not actually difficult to accomplish that editing, and also why this practice is still (and will be) in place now and in forthcoming seasons of HGL as well. Unfortunately this takes the effort of editing post from every manager, but it's not possible to accomplish such things in a Pickup match based league 100% automatically. I still consider that being a small price to pay, as we think about the return (the joy HGL hopefully also gives to you guys).

I also understand it might be easy to forget editing your post in the beginning (just as anything can be sort of difficult when you're just learning habits/rules), but I think it's also simple enough process so that if you for instance set up a reminder (on calendar/phone/whatever device) for it for few weeks, then it becomes something you'll remember to do continuously "automatically". As mentioned, this has been the first season, and we have been learning practices and I have sort of taken the softer approach due to that. On Season 2 though, I kindly ask all participating managers for instance trying to remember to set up some reminders on editing their team box score posts, if they feel it's something that they struggle to remember to do. I can assure you based on personal experience, reminders are your friends. :)

No surprise results whatsoever during HGL Playoffs (in terms of Official Regular Season Rankings, home teams winning all matches) - will this strong run of favorite teams last until the very end, or are WiMaOlCa or Heywood Big Dogs ready to pull off one of the biggest upset wins of the Season 1? We'll see that in about 2 days - good luck for the every remaining team for the semifinals!

Depuis quand Dusse devient Saint ? (c'est nouveau, ça ??)

(for non-francophones, don't bother my sentence, it's a franco-french philosophical question.

I think there always remains a chance, (unless of course we're talking about, say $900K roster vs. $50K roster, in which case the chance becomes very close to 0) and I, if someone, will encourage everyone to keep on believing on their chances even if they're underdogs. :)

As I've mentioned earlier, of course as a role of HGL Commissioner I'm naturally a neutral manager/person, but in real life what I love almost most in many sports (including basketball) is when a huge underdog is able to cause an upset. So I guess I got hold of the spirit, that you were describing in your message... And yes, a lot is often lost in translation, especially in philosophical matters, song lyrics and poetry...

Anyway, like I said, good luck to all for Round Three (semifinal) matches - yes, of course also todays' favorites Svätý Jur Snakers and Santa Eufemia Ducks, even though usually favorites aren't that much in a need for a luck. :)
