Personally, I think as a country with a small and shrinking user base, I think the U21 should be more of a way to connect with new managers and integrate them into the Canadian community. We need to get them connected with more experienced users that can mentor them and hopefully encourage them to stick around. I would rather have more people sticking around than winning U21 (the NT is a diffierent story). I think it's more important to vote on building community as opposed to results (which have been decent imo).
I think Kumiko has been simply outstanding in this respect, and encourage others who are supportive of her to vote right now (or don't forget), and not take for granted that she'll be elected. My only suggestion of how she could improve would be to hound managers less, and try to connect them to mentors more (who can talk to them about their entire team, which may mean not picking up that L6 trainer, and ideally from another manager so they don't the advice is just for the benefit just of the U21).

I think I made clear that I thought Kumiko's dedication was unmatched.
Again though my point was:
If you don't get results it doesn't matter if it was your fault
In sports, you fall on the sword.
One need not look much closer than Canada's junior hockey or even Olympic team.
All management of those two are as good as it gets, but if they don't win, OH CANADA!

And BTW, seems young Pugger has trained a Canadian to better than Kumiko or I

It is however very difficult to procure a young Canadian talent.
I love the training part more than any other aspect.
I saved my draft points twice in the hopes of a top flight Canuck.
Only to get stiffed both times.

I check every day to see what's out there but there are precious few Canadians of MVP and up under 20 worth training so I train players from other countries though my Superstar caliber Canuck will get as good as he can.

@HTG Ha, knew it was Ferguson before even clicking the link. Bballin has been ecstatic about Fergie's progress with Sparky since he got him at age 22. By then he was already trained up as a U21 player.

@Fresh Yes, very good points. However, I don't think U21 coach and GM of a country should get their roles mixed up. U21 is to put the best lineup they can on the court. And I'm not recommending L6's to every single manager. If a team is in D3 and has the #27 guard with only per allstar potential, 99% of the time I'm saying to get L4 max and linking them to Rip's BB guide and the better training threads on the forum.

I don't care about past results; I know Kumiko can do much better than any other candidate. Also, the results have been there. Canada U21's ranking has improved since she's been running the team, and Season 24 was the U21's best season since Season 12.

I never wrote anything negative about the U21 coach but
You say you don't care about past results but then use the ones you like
In any sports league anywhere, if the team had a record like last season's Canada U21,
The coach and general manager would be on thin ice
and another season as such would surely include a firing.
Perhaps a championship a season before that might help that person hang on a bit longer...
Those are indisputable facts even if those people were the brightest, hardest workers on the planet.
BTW many of those fired people go on to bigger and better things given better talent at the next stop.
That's just the way it is!

Now I want all of you to think real hard on this one.
Take your current real life favourite sports team.
Give them the pro rated record of Canada's U21 last season
and tell me what you would be saying about team management.
"I don't care about past results" would not be at the top of the list

You fail to see that BB is NOT like real sports. While it is a sports simulator the similarities stop there. Sure in the real world managers are hired to be fired, but this is a poor comparison. In the real sports world not one of us would be qualified to run a team, hence the reason we all enjoy it as much as we do.

The results of the U21 team cannot only be measured by the wins and loses. Especially in a season like last season with a hopeless crop of players. In order to measure success of this position you must consider a bunch of factors including scouting and the creation of a player data base, training advice, mentorship, communication with other managers etc. when looking at these factors the decision is easy, and until Kumiko decides to step down the position is rightfully hers.

Sparky is a few years away from being a manager but appears to be heading down the right path. I would suggest getting him more involved with the NT which means participating on the off site. The information and discussion there is very valuable and cannot be found here.

Why is the U21 manager of another country poking around here?
