About that:
"

Do not forget that the money comes from "lots of work" and lots of time spent playing the game (for some, a few years already).

So, a tax with the intention of "grabbing" that money (that, in fact, is the result of time spent and dedication to the game) is extremely unfair.

It is the same, as saying: "sorry, i know you spent lots of time in the game but you can't have the money you made while playing it for such a long time respecting its rules".

"

I can't agree with that.
The tax can be easily made so if you were a great team that want to rest- the tax will not reduce your money- it will cut the profit so the day you come back- you stay with the same amount of money.

This is why I believe should be made- by using the fans...

Who said i like playing alone?

Who said its fun to play with bots?

Who said i like tanking?

I've been "out" for almost a year, due to lack of time.
And trying to return now.
It is obvious i had to sell the players. Why should i keep them, if i was just logging not to loose the team...
(Looking to the past, if I had kept them probably i would sell them now for much more money because the BB market has very high prices now.)
But not relevant. I "stopped" for +- a year, and I am now trying to regain interest playing BB because i also have a little more time to do it.
Let's see how it goes (I have made some good friends here).

Just respect other opinions.
Something it seems you can't do (just read you words).

I stopped for 16 months myself... Real life hits you hard sometimes...

But, I didn't sign in periodically to keep my team afloat hoarding up piles of sum. I let my team go bot. I built it up once from scratch and I could do it again. I didn't need it to hoard up millions of dollars basically making me a new user but with larger arena and way larger starting bankroll.

For me personally I didn't need to take the easy path like that. I didn't need what I personally consider an unfair advantage over other "new" users.

I don't need a winning lottery ticket to make my start vs others. I can see why a lot of people do choose this path or would do it. We are a microwave society where we want instant gratification. People don't like putting in hard work or earning things the right way particularly when there is an easy button path that, while not illegal and not breaking the rules, is a loophole of sorts in programming.

Any time there's a competitive advantage from loopholes there will always be people who deflate balls or whatever other cheating they can get away with. And there will always be people that don't see the need to cheat.

Luxury taxes in real life were designed so that teams in larger market cities of whom had more rich of an owner wouldn't be able to just buy a championship every year vs every other team. It was made so that (in theory) every team had an equal fighting chance.

Whether that's an expansion team just recently created or a team that had been around for 100+ years.

NOBODY CARES WHEN YOU STARTED. People just want the SAME FAIR CHANCE TO WIN AS YOU

I think we all agree that the problem is not cutting people money,
it's just reduce the profit from tanking, as much as possible.
I offered doing that by using the fans- make them upset and stay at home during games- what do you have more guys?
Practically.

That's the way to go in my opinion.

This luxury tax is going to hit teams that like to train and sell players, too. If you train players and sell them for millions you're going to be hit by this tax without even tanking.

I'd wish to hear for BB-Marin: what is the intention of this tax? Is it meant to stop people from buying titles? Or is it meant to address tanking?

If it's meant to stop buying titles it won't work - same as the overextension tax doesn't work. You just have to save more (a lot more) money and then buy your title. And of course the easiest way to save money is tanking while training players.

Is it meant to stop tanking? Then it's the wrong way, too. Because this tax will hit everybody with many millions either way they gathered their money.

I really don't have a problem if people spend a lot of time playing BB, training players, trading players, winning games, competing.

But tanking is too easy: just sell most of your players, buy decent trainees and a good coach, them train them as you like. There's no tradeoff between training and winning anymore for tankers. But this tradeoff is one of the most difficult and interesting things about training and managing in BB, imho.

Yup. And if this is actually a game about commodity trading, just like professional traders buy and sell commodities on commodity exchanges -- things like corn futures, currencies, hog bellies, etc. -- then the threatened tax is inappropriate. But as long as they posture the game as a basketball sim, the tax is appropriate.
