Well I think that trainer with higher wage is also cheaper to hire. So you have to find out the equilibrium.
And if someone hire a high salary trainer level 5 for also very high transfer fee, that's his problem I think.

that's true, but an 'old' level 5 would cost me around 21-23k salary, my current level 5 is up to 34k now and if I want to replace him I'll have to spend much more than it used to be with the old system.

The problem for me is not the higher prices for trainers alone, but the general balance between the player's values (at the lowest), the staff prices (still very high for trainers), the player's salaries and the incomes (arena on top).
I am sure that the BBs are monitoring the situation, but when I see a big man with a 64k salary sold for 2.1M (2990067) I wonder what the added value of training nowadays... maybe I should just hire a level 4 trainer then.

Well if you compare that with a MVP players which are getting over 100k p/w, it is not so big difference and only such trainers can do that.

The new staff system is more heavy if you want a great staff members, but also players are. I dont like to see that if I have buy 6lvl trainer for my 1 phase training, but if I want to do that, there is no other way, because if it would be cheaper, teams in lower leagues would be punished, because they cannot get such a stuff at all.

So I think that if we want to keep our teams where they are, we have to think much more about our expenses and that's the point.

after a few months from the release of the new staff system I think that I can safely claim that it added new costs, as feared by many users at that time.

I don't know, but maybe that was the intent, perhaps.

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score

I agree.
My lvl 5 coach has salary 31k and option to replace him is very expensive :-(

I'm curious to know if the league averages on the economy page are regular averages or if the median is used?

Looks like the arithmetic mean. My league has a scouting average of $ 16 250 (which I find surprisingly high, btw).

That's the problem with the arithmetic mean. It is very susceptible to outliers. So if, for example, two teams in your league are spending $40,000 on scouting, it could skew the average.
