Time to look again at the news post.
First off, a few words about the current salary update. High secondary skills haven’t been properly represented in player salaries, especially considering their beneficial in-game effect, so a change was needed.
Initially this was all about SGs with IS. Which we mistakenly thought was an anti-LI move. The problem that has been pointed out to the BBs was free skills, which IS was, and their fix is to increase secondaries for every player. Oh well, at least salaries will go up. That's good for the economy.
This means that while some players have had their salaries upped due to having high secondaries, others have had them reduced, due to the lack of those same secondary skills. Globally, player salaries have been slightly reduced, which means that a general balance has been kept, or even pulled towards lower salaries altogether.
Oh dear.
While the implementation of this measure has been done gently, we plan on making it a bit stronger at the start of the next season.
Again, not clear. Does this mean secondaries will be further punished but salaries will go down again? Or does it mean that salaries will actually go up? Do the BBs realise that they are making one dimensional bigs the ideal build again?
Another previously mentioned topic is the so called micronations problem. We’ve decided on a specific solution (a merge of nations) and will try to test it out in a couple of seasons (S39 at the earliest, maybe even S40).
Necessary. Slow but I understand the reasons why. They can't afford a mistake.
will be explained in detail before it is implemented.
Hmm.
Details will be announced on time, not to worry.
Hmm.
In order to promote healthy competitiveness, the salary floor has been raised for divisions I and II, by 15% and 10%, respectively. While this measure alone might not discourage tanking, a new initiative has been announced by fan clubs all around BB; fans have decided that they will not tolerate long losing streaks if team has the funds to prevent them and will boycott teams that don’t have at least one victory in each third of the season or suffer the consequences of the boycott, severely reducing ticket income!
I think from other threads we can already see that this isn't going to work. The salary floor raise is good. The boycott is a nonsense that is so easy to get round that its just not going to be worth bothering with. If I was a BB I'd give up on it at this point. I doubt they'll do that though as it will involve backing down and their collective egos won't allow it.
The BB promotion and demotion system has stayed the same since season one, but this too is about to change, starting season 38. We are going to implement a hybrid Utopia/BB promotion system. More specifically, we are increasing the amount of promoted teams each season! This, of course, means that more teams will need to be demoted. Teams ranked seventh will be, just like eight ones, directly demoted, while fifth and sixth place teams will be battling it out for survival! Just like in Utopia, the extra promotees will be decided based on their success during the regular season, comparing their rankings to all the other teams in the same division! Exciting times are upon us, surely!
That last sentence is telling. Exciting times. Yes this is going to increase the meaning of late season games. I've already said I don't like regular season records deciding promotion but the biggest problem is with the increased number of promoted teams, all of whom will presumably receive the bonus. If Utopia caused inflation, the mind boggles as to what this will do.
