0-2 at worlds after a tight 91-77 loss to Hungary (38276). Four point game into the fourth quarter then they pulled away. We had already pretty much lost this one due to the game shape difference, and their inside guys were too good.

Enthusiasm saved for the matches we need them in!

MVP: Cotterell putting up 51 in patient!
LVP: Auge maybe. 0/4 with 4 to in 19 minutes

Singapore (1-1) USA (1-1) and Senegal (0-2) in the weeks to come.

Whew. Narrow 79-71 (38280) win over Singapore who gave it their all and definitely had a couple over-performers on the day.

Our princeton attack was stifled for most of the game, and we had only 3 assists at half time. Cotterell injured early and Guèvremont had to play a lot of minutes. A close game until 5:30 left in the 4th where we went on a 15-6 to finish it off.

Game MVP: Hall 18 pts (8/20, but 1/7 1/6 ouch), 14 reb, 5 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk
Game LVP: Zongzhi 4 pts (2/11) despite PP100 showing 101.7. Ya, figure that one out.

Standings with 2 group games left:

Canada comfortably into the next round at worlds! With USA handling Singapore easily we were already in, but we managed to defeat Senegal 99-67 (38287) to be able to party in style tonight. Both games were TIE vs CRU.

This is the first time Canada U21 has made it to the second round of worlds. Congrats U21 trainers!!!

We had some mixed results playing push the ball today. Our PFCs went a combined 25 for 40 from the field. Our guards struggled a bit more, but that might have had more to do with the effort imbalance than the JS/OD difference between the offense and defense.

Beaulieu and Bailey got in with over a minute left to receive their first caps in their careers.

Game MVP: Girouard 25 pts (9/24, 3/8, 4/6), 11 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 3 blk (despite a late game 0/6 streak)
Game LVP: Cotterell 2 pts (0/8, 0/5, 2/4) !!! He did have 5 reb, 5 ast, 5 stl to go with his 5 fouls and 5 missed 3s! Strange to say the least.

Later today we'll find out the schedule for the next group. This is an 8 team round robin with results from advancing teams in the first group carrying over. Unfortunately that means we will bring an 0-3 record forward, but we'll be fighting tooth and nail to scrape out even one or two wins. The top 4 teams advance to the semis.

Congrats also go out to Brasil for dispatching China in a must win game to make the second round. Surely we will enjoy a spirited game against our yearly nemesis in the weeks to come!

GO CANADA
