i guess at the worst we can look at the lineups you set for the first two games and that should show us who the best players were

i think there needs to be a happy medium between the two policies you guys have

win now screw the future - screw now only win in the future

ok - i am exaggerating for effect but this is a bit how you guys seemed and i would like to see a few core guys trying to win games - maybe 7 real players is enough - while the other 11 spaces can be saved for guys going bot

win now screw the future

sorry mate but this is not what my plans were for the U21...
i hope you have read my post(129594.40)

and as far as it goes with winning any game this season those were my goals...
7) REALISTIC goals of this season are :
-try to get the first WIN of this nation in an international level since season 11.!!!!(the win against Prathet Thai U21 doesnt count since they withdrew...)
-try to improve world ranking (@02/05/11:No94)
- try to train 18 & 19 yrs old players for the following seasons..

but i think its enough about me or you or little david unfortunately there is nothing we can do at the moment but watch him going ahead with whatever plan he has in his little mind and hope for the best.

For me he proved his ethos several times in the past, he proved to me how selfish he is by not seeking for help or using all the help that was available...
unless the local users dont like him and start voting negative on the U21 page the situation stays as it is so good luck

thor i hope you dont mind if i say this in public but i still felt you had too much emphasis on the present and not enough on the future

we need to make sure good players go to good teams and get trained properly

i also felt - my opinion so take it or leave it - you were so secretive about everything that no-one could actually tell if you were actually doing anything

i hope davidm will try to save players and help the team develop - i really do

meanwhile i will do what i can to try and help - but all i can do is make suggestions - when they are ignored then i can't do anything useful

i hope you will stick around and help - there is always the senior job open next season and i dont hear anything from the senior coach either

ok back to something more constructive

game 1 Italia U21 120 - 81 Barbados U21 39 point loss - bad
game 2 Barbados U21 vs. Canada U21 48 - 111, 63 point loss horrible
game 3 Uruguay U21 vs. Barbados U21 145 - 61, 85 point loss ahhhhh

and for g3 we were on 1 enthusiasm anyway, why didn't we ct?

so g4 is no 92 in world Barbados U21 vs no 71 in world Costa Rica U21 - this is a maybe winnable game

but when you look at their team they look well organised, they have a good staff, and are working well, they just smashed the bahamas in the first game

they are not a deep team but they have one star

Aunaldo Hidalgo (14963027)
Weekly salary: $ 30 791
Age: 21
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: allstar
Game Shape: respectable

their next best if far weaker

Fernan Alterno (14963033)
Weekly salary: $ 16 002
Age: 21
Height: 6'10" / 208 cm
Potential: superstar
Game Shape: average

Jose Polanía (16907789)
Weekly salary: $ 13 622
Age: 21
Height: 6'3" / 190 cm
Potential: hall of famer
Game Shape: respectable

Pancracio Catoira (14963009)
Weekly salary: $ 10 723
Age: 21
Height: 7'1" / 216 cm
Potential: star
Game Shape: average

as you can see they don't have good gs

we only have 1 game to go on but vs a team similar to us they played motion/m2m

so i would suggest playing li/3-2 - depending on the players we call up

our team

ok as everyone is so secret about our guys skills i havent much to go on, but these guys look the best

SG Gary Arkless (15142744) Weekly salary: $ 10 558 Game Shape: average
C Patrick Marlin (17603491) Weekly salary: $ 8 144 Game Shape: respectable
PF Ian Lynam (21479631) Weekly salary: $ 7 819 Game Shape: respectable
SG Youssou Barnes (19978036) Weekly salary: $ 6 612 Game Shape: average
PG Aïdara Reidy (18447472) Weekly salary: $ 6 582 Game Shape: respectable
SG John Golding (18447503) Weekly salary: $ 6 176 Game Shape: strong
SG Jon Sidan (20693872) Weekly salary: $ 5 284 Game Shape: strong
PF Mar Trickey (15142727) Weekly salary: $ 6 629 Game Shape: average
PF Dexter Theobald (19978057) Weekly salary: $ 6 176 Game Shape: average
C Pete Healy (21495257) Weekly salary: $ 6 119 Game Shape: respectable
SG Timothy Draper (17124392) Weekly salary: $ 6 078 Game Shape: strong

ok that is the guys i think should form the core of the real playing squad

in the game thor ran he had this starting lineup

PG A. Reidy
SG J. Golding
SF G. Arkless
PF H. Wicks
C P. Marlin

4 of them look good but i dont get this guy and honestly it looks sus to me:

Hal Wicks (20533152) Power Forward Owner: Arubian Pride Weekly salary: $ 3 994 Game Shape: average

so if we swapped wicks out and put the much better lynam in that would be an improvement

we want to have as few as possible "real players" as davidm wants to save a lot of guys from bottification so if we just had a 2 man bench we could go with:

backup pg/sg/sf: Barnes or Sidan or Draper
backup pf/c: Trickey or Theobald or Healy

so that would be our 7 man squad - something like

PG A. Reidy
SG J. Golding
SF G. Arkless
PF I. Lynam
C P. Marlin
Bench Barnes and Trickey

can this team play li/3-2, only the coach can know

davidm - i hope that is helpful

ok as everyone is so secret about our guys skills i havent much to go on, but these guys look the best

who is everyone??? i am sorry to disappoint you but sometimes you are giving me the impression that you never had any previous experience with any NT. (i had few seasons ago)
there is no reason at all why little David or myself(when i was the U21 coach) to discuss out openly any skills the players have.
these players belong to some teams and their owners might not be happy for an open discussion regarding how good/bad their players are.

As you might have noticed so far, all your hard work regarding scouting next opponents, scouting drafts etc... has no actual value since you arent getting ANY response for the man in charge at the moment. So i will advice you to take it easy for a while unless little david asks for your help in the future(he didnt ask mine and the excel file i had was never send to the current U21 coach)

you were so secretive about everything that no-one could actually tell if you were actually doing anything

you accused me of being secretive. again i dont think this is a valid comment...what would you want me to say, that i have been out looking for managers who were willing to become "farms" for the U21??? or that i have been contacting X and Y manager to buy the new upcoming drafts from their BOT teams so that i would increase their price???

and how on earth can you honestly be sure that:
i still felt you had too much emphasis on the present and not enough on the future
when i only had 10 days on the U21 and i have updated 50% of the U21 roster, i had 5 places left open for 18yrs old that would become free agents.

anyway...this forum is active ONLY because you and me, (and when little David wasnt the coach)are arguing.
waxman and the other 5 managers in Barbados dont need to suffer our arguments....

one last thing that made me quite sceptical and would like people to have a think about...

little david said: [message=129594.35 ]
God da*n, this is so sad, my plan won't work now, oh well, I still have Barbados NT, but good players come from U21, :///

what did he mean, i have the Barbados NT???

and then how did he know that Gary Arkless will be called in the NT and then suddently Arkless is out of the U21 and into the NT...and then the same logo that the U21 has goes into theNT logo...

one guess is that finally the NT coach who has been inactive...is alive and well done to little david for awakening him..
another guess ....:))))

you are giving me the impression that you never had any previous experience with any NT

i guess my experience is with australia and yours i greece - much higher ranked teams not on the same standard as barbados, they have reasons for secrecy, dont see a lot of teams sweating barbados or a lot of managers feeling the need to keep the skills of their 6k 21 year old secret - maybe that is my lack of experience showing but id just assume that noone would care a fig about the skills of players of that level being exposed

what would you want me to say

who is in the team for merit, who is in the team to be saved from bottification, which players need to be focussed on for the future, what are the upcoming games, what are our possible strategies (can keep the final decision secret). there is a ton of stuff you can do

again i only know australia but we have a constant debate on the forums about the team

how on earth can you honestly be sure that...

i cant but i said it was a feeling, not that i was sure

this forum is active ONLY because you and me

and waxman the one active local on the forums, think getting the others involved would also be a job for whoever was the coach at the time

what did he mean, i have the Barbados NT

no idea

but whatever i think i will stick around and try to help barbados in the future and i hope you and davidm will do the same and i hope we all share our knowledge and expertise

but i agree we need a lot more locals active on these forums
