It didn’t seem like that long ago I checked this thread, but wow this has been busy!
Excited this looks like it is going to get up.
I’ll do my best to stay across it.
Nice work to those driving it.

Hello !
I've just tested PlayPass, I think there is something unbalanced, bacause except the 2 best teams facing each other at the last game, the other teams don't face their "twin" at the end.
Due to my lack of english, I give an example below, it will be more explicit.

In MY schedule, team1 (the best) will face team2 (the second best) for the last game. Team1/Team3 the game just before, and so on. Team 16 / Team 15 for the last game.

In PLAYPASS, it's the same for team 1, but not for team.. 3 for example.

Looking nearer, it seems, that Playpass is pratically the same as mine, excepted one or 2 games, so we can take playpass. The good point, also, is that it's creating the rankings instantly.

I really love your enthusiasm and do not want to dampen it, but if you are going to do this as a PL, you do not have the chance to schedule the games by yourself.

I like the modus of our PL, perhaps this is workable for the HGHG too, it is organized as follows:
1st round: single round robin, 32 teams, randomly to 4 groups; neutral parquet
2nd round: two finalists of each group play the championship; the 4 3rd and 4th place for the „golden pineapple“ and so on; neutral parquet

Organisation always takes some time so this starts already during the running season and it does not correspond to the regular season (roundabout 1 PL season during 1,5-2 regular seasons).

It isn't going to be a PL, LA-flaterik123.

We will use PickUp (PU) games and create a schedule. :-)

Yeah, I love the instant ladder part. Easy to edit, then whoever does it can simply cut and paste a copy into the forum each week for everyone to see.

I don't know about the functionality of Playpass for instance, but I suppose it might be necessary for us to accept somewhat imperfect (randomized as in Playpass?) schedule?

I mean if we want to adjust it ourselves, it should be done in a fair/equal way and with that amount of matches I take it that it's quite if not very difficult or at least arduous to rearrange them manually and still ensure every match is being played (even using that Playpass regular season schedule as a base model/starting point)?

Also I see those good things/strong points in strongest facing strongest and weakest facing weakest at the end, but I think it's not ideal that whole season runs like that (for example, if best team would face team ranked no. 14th, then 13th, then 12th and so on, because then best ones would "lock in" their playoff place very early on and worst would likely be out of playoffs, also quite early on during the season.

Randomizing the schedule on the other hand hurts some teams in a season in terms of totally fair schedule (at which point of the season you'll face hard and easy opponents, if and as the order is not the same for all teams), but in a way it might be fairest thing to do, as in theory the effect of luck (in terms of what kind of regular season schedule you'll receive for the coming season) should equalize during multiple seasons of play... Still haven't given this as much thought as possible though, so let's see if new thoughts arise.

Oh...I recall you said you couldn't compete because you were already in a PL.

Sorry, I thought your realised we were going with the PU games as there were problems with running a PL and Federation.

IF you still want back in, I could give up my spot for you? I'm ok to do that for the first season as my roster will be a low $80k. Not much competition for any of you.

Let me know.

I'm happy to stay working on this regardless. :-)

Looks like we will be running a Poll for the name so,

Everyone list their best name choice.

I will make a list and the first...I don't know...10 we receive will go into that poll? Does this work for everyone?

I actually have 2 suggestions for a name of the league(should that be allowed in this case).
But to name the more important first (should only one suggestion per manager be accepted), it's my original suggestion from/since 24th of September last year when I suggested that such homegrown league would be great to get started.
The suggestion I used already back then was BBHG, which is short for BuzzerBeater Home Grown.

As I'm not a native English speaker, frankly I can't tell what kind of images that name then awakens in people (as Swan River Serpents' manager suggested in an earlier post that it's not "exactly enticing"), but to me those initials simply mean what they mean and because they're directly derived from logical word combination (BuzzerBeater Home Grown) they're for me at least also easy to remember.

While the first one is my main suggestion due to being "the original one", my second name suggestion would reflect my mental relationship with this league: like I mentioned this BBHG is going to be the most important league for me mentally, and I'm playing the "regular BB league" more or less only because I have to.
So my second name suggestion is The League.
It underlines the importance of it, and suggests that all already know what we are talking about when we use a prefix The.

It is also used as a name of highest tier of Finnish ice hockey league (and probably some other top sports leagues in the world too), Liiga in Finnish, but I don't mind as I do like how it sounds. It will be the ultimate league for me, and The League would reflect that well too.
