I'm surprised you didn't mention the main reason for your PG's field day...2-3 defense.

Moutlinho's BB game analyzer tells us a lot about this match and your PG's part in it...I'm talking about the game your PG made 71 points.

Out of 63 shots taken, there were:

19 shots for 3
23 layups (one of them a dunk)
21 midrange jumpers

Out of those shots, these were defended (so no open look):

16 3s
10 layups
14 midrange jumpers

Open shots:

3 open looks for 3
11 open layups
7 open midrange shots

Out of 38 shots over defense, your PG succeeded to hit basket 17 times.
After pass, your PG scored 12 times and missed 9 times.

And now, let's not forget the defensive effort of your opponent...

His first C Piet defended 22 shots in 31 minutes; 5 of them went in and he fouled on one.
His other C Davenport defended 14 shots in 26 minutes; 9 (!) of them went in and he fouled on one.
His PG (watch this...) defended 6 shots in 33 minutes; 3 of them went in and he fouled on one.

So basically your PG has been shooting mostly over his other players and not his PG. Even having M2M, it seems that Patient works a bit like Motion; except Motion chooses between 5 players while Patient has a "locked" player with a small chance that the ball goes to another player. The locked player shoots over any player since obviously others are making screens for him.

It would be interesting to analyse your other Patient games and see if this theory is true. But I'm done with analysing for today

You guys may find this interesting ((39440229)).

I used Patient and played my SG Zikang (who's always been my best scorer) at C.
But apparently the offensive burden came onto my SF (Karaplis).

In the end I won by 20 but not in the same way I expected

I have not been able to follow all the examples or anything for this thread.

This is an example of my team, and my USA National Prospect (In my eyes) using patient.

39460190 Game id.

Run and Gun is not better if your opponent has a really high scoring offense. You want to limit their ability to score, and the best way to do that is by (1) Playing excellent Defense and (2) securing the ball on your possesions.

Part of Securing the Ball is not Turning it Over. To run a Patient properly you need good Guard play, like HA/PA. So your 'handlers' have the ball until they find the 'mismatch'. So the only guys really touching the ball either can Secure it, or are going to Shoot it. The second aspect of Securing the Ball is that you actually have to have the ball for it to be secured. Running down and popping a shot in 5 Seconds (even if it's a made basket) isn't Securing the Ball... it's allowing the Opponent to have the ball and the time to put up big points.

Patient, if ran right, will get you a Higher Percentage while exploiting the Mismatch (outside scoring/driving) AND eating up valuable clock.

Run and Gun if you want to win 120-118, Patient if you want to win 80-78. Now, this isn't exactly true as your higher percentage means you can score more, so you could actually win 100-78

I run Patient and Motion, depending on the situation. Motion is more for Jump Shooting and Middle Range and I've moved to it to slow down the 3 Point Shooting (my team isn't really good at 3's). My SF is usually my best Offensive Player, so in Patient I would see the SF lighting it up (or chucking it up). I usually get 30 from the SF, but the % varies.

With Motion I still get the same thing. Why? My SF is my best offensive threat. As for Post Players not scoring... if they can grab Offensive Boards you will Score with the Post. I seem to get more Offensive Boards in Motion, but I have upgraded my Post Players since the change, so I can't say it's the Offense that is doing this.

Patient is a very good offense IF YOU BUILD FOR IT. No offesne will work if you don't get the right players to run it.

Maybe your SF was chosen also because you played against 2-3 zone.
