What is the Princeton offence in reality anyway? Do any NBA teams play it these days? I heard somewhere that the Kings of early 2000s used a princeton offence - but they played a very uptempo game whereas in BB princeton is supposed to be slower.

One thing that someone mentioned here that I didn't quite get is that driving is essential. Princeton is actually an offense where there is virtually no driving to the hoop on your own. It is a series of back door cuts and pick and rolls. I don't think that if the developers were trying to make it similar to real life they would make driving a big factor. I think passing from the big men is helpful as is JS.

I disagree that driving is very important. It helps but driving is used more in other offenses like look inside and push the ball. I think Princeton is a passing based offense. Also your big men need to be able to shoot and pass to get the most out of the offense.

I actually think Princeton is a good offense for teams with so so guards but great, well rounded forwards.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense, as RnG tends to take the most out of your guards and LI tends to take the ball to your post players all the time, there should be some tactic that is forwards-oriented.

And those skills schemes depend on your team structure, passing is the #1 skill for Princeton, that's sure. If you lack good offensive centers and PFs, your guards and forwards infiltration, JS and JR will take a big part in your scoring. But you can still play Princeton if your perimeter players aren't good shooters but are good passers and you've got a superstar center.

You should check with the BB guys, as when i asked about princeton they told me that they cannot program princeton in its true meaning as it is too complicated to do, so it is a hybrid version of the low post tactic.
With this in mind, you me misunderstanding what the princeton offence does within this game!!

If you read my reply (the very first reply in the thread) you would know what the Princeton offense is...

I read that before I posted. Even the wiki entry talks about more uptempo teams as examples of Princeton in the NBA. Whereas here its a slower tactic..maybe that depends on the abilities of the big men to find the quick pass or be consistent jump shooters. Which might explain the pace of the supreme Kings offence of old...love that team to bits.

From what I've figured, it seems that the big men take more jump shots than inside shots - either after they can't find a good pass or when they are open enough to take the jump shot. Which would explain the increased outside offence ratings and lower inside ratings in the BB version of Princeton.
