At the forefront of the Filipinos' attack was
Abelardo Baluyot, who scored 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting. He also dished out 7 assists, and added 1 steal and 2 blocks.
Bill Guerrero, who's on his second tour of duty for Philippines U21 team, got a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double, while
Dellan Catucod added 17 points and 7 assists.
The lead went up to 30 points in the waning minutes of the third quarter, and it gave the bench mob a few more opportunities to strut their stuff.
Shane Mempin and
Howard Leynes were the main beneficiaries, scoring 12 points each off the bench.
Benson Rodeo held the fort for Philippines U21 on the defensive end, finishing with 5 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks.
Tin Nguyên and
Di Ðoàn gave it their all for Vietnam U21, as they led their team in scoring with 17 points each. Ðoàn also stuffed the stat sheet with an impressive stat line of 17 rebounds, 2 assists, and 6 blocks, playing off the bench for the Viets, but it wasn't enough to fend off the Filipinos.
