You will get relegated automatically if you come in last and you won't get the extra matches that you would get if you ended 7th (to determine who goes down a division) so I think you would lose out on some training.

If I am in the lowest division of my country, will I still get the extra matches in the 7th spot?

in the lowest divisions a lot of teams would be relegated for bots in the higher division - for thats it's pretty fine to be listed in front.

Otherwise i think a lots of team in your division would draft randomly so a early draft position won't bring the big advantages cause you could get must good players late in the draft 2.

Yes, you will get the relegation playoff, even though you can't be relegated.

As for the draft, the draft order isn't really critical. All the teams will set their draft order based on limited information. Each league has a pool of 48 players, but you will have only limited information, and will know nothing about perhaps 1/2 the players. Players are given a star rating of 1 to 5, and a grade from A+ to (I'm not sure whether it is a D, E, F), and a best position. But you might know nothing, or only the star rating. When you "scout" you are increasing the number of things you know.

Players are identified by a number, with each team presented different numbers. So you might know that player #6 is a '5', some other team that #19 is a '5', A-; and other teams will know nothing about #38 and #43, even though it is all the same player.

Since you have limited information, about all you can do is put the 5's at the top, 1's at the bottom, and arrange the unknowns in the same order you would use for picking the lottery. And in your particular case, it appears that about 1/2 the owners won't even log in to re-order their draft list.

Last season, I drafted 14, 30, and 46, but got my #3, #10, and #17 overall picks.

In two seasons, I have drafted two starters (or they would be if they weren't both PG), and a solid backup trainee. One of the draft picks has been on the All Star team both seasons.

Caveat: At the start of the season BB announced that the draft would be modified, with details announced later.

i'd say its only worth trying to get better draft position if you've put alot of money into scouting. Since i cant make the playoffs now i've been trying to lose so i get a better draft pick. I've put the most money you can into this draft so i'll let you know if it pays dividends.

I'm not too bothered in playing a relegation game. I'm pretty sure i'm better then any team that i'll have to play and if i'm not, well i dont deserve to be there anyway.

Thanks for all your answers.

One more question, what is the difference between a star rating and a grade for the draft in the past?

Is a 5, B better or is a 4, A better?

Since the team with the worst record gets to draft first, at this point of the season, it is still worth it to win games if you are close to the bottom of the table or would you rather just lose to get a better draft position?

One tactic you may wish to consider is to save the money you wouldve spent on scouting and spend it on an 18yo in the play off period.

With most teams likely to spend ahead of their relegation/promotion games, last season the TL went a bit quieter during the end of the season.. also knowing that you get 3 draftees anyway first week of following season...

So as you dont know what your draftees will look like (right position/ could be age 19) why not look for a 18yo at around the 150k mark (16 weeks of 10k scouting) and if you cant find one at least you have the draft to fall back on.

I also reckon we will see alot more of this seasons draftees on the TL as many of the better teams now will still opt to train the players they have and try and cash in...

I maybe wrong... lets see!

My recollection is that all 5's are A+, A, or A-,
All 4's are B+, B, or B-.

But there will be 5's and 4's that you won't know the letter grade for.

Each time you "scout" you are given one piece of information about one player. The player is chosen at random from among the 48 players. So the first time you scout, you are given the star rating. If you happen to scout a player a second time, you would be given the letter grade. And if you scout a player a 3rd time, you would be given the best position.

I also agree with Superfly about the spending. My first season, I only played 3 games before the draft and hadn't even found the menu that controlled scouting, and did quite well in the draft, with all 3 players capable of playing for my team. One was eventually sold when I bought some other players.

Last season (in D.IV) expenses were tight, and so I cut back to $5000 and one scouting. Even though I had the 14th pick overall, I had one draftee who was good enough to start, and another who I could sell. The 3rd (who was the 46th overall pick among 48) was fired. He wasn't a total loser, and if some other team had drafted him, he might have made the team - but it was unlikely that they would look for that skill level on the TL.
