I had a sitdown with GM-beanerz, newly elected Canadian NT Manager and asked him some questions. Excerpts from the interview are below:
How do you feel about being the new National Team Manager?
Happy. I really enjoyed my first term as the NT manager and am looking forward to this one as well.
> What are your short and long range goals?
My first goal is to win, pure and simple.
Other than that I would like to do a few things including:
- Update the depth chart
- Create a long term build stratagy for the NT. This will include unique builds that will benefit our NT long term.
- Help the Canadian community remain active and interested in the NT program.
> What players are going to captain this team(what players you loook up to to show leadership on the court?)
Gerry Stavrids will be a big time leader on this team and based on his manager should have a huge impact as he always seems to be in great GS. The veterans will be Maja and Essa Abu-Kaleel who both need to have great seasons for this team to have any hope.
> How do you think Canada will do in the Americas?
Well it is a tough tournament with the likes of Chile and the USA but I like our schedule and feel that we can certainly take a run at a top 2 or 3 spot. Time will tell.
> What are you looking to improve here over the next two seasons?
Everything. To be successful as a Nation we need to continue to impove in every aspect of our BB community.
> What are your offsite(ECU) goals?
Hmm... No goals really, I just hope to post updates that create interest and conversation. And obviously I plan to post pre and post game plans and recaps.
> Any significant player changes that you are eyeing?
Sure there will be some, there needs to be. Last years club under achieved so we better change something. Fridays update will be needed to complete to know who will be on the team for sure, but at this point I have a fairly good idea of our starting 10. Germain will likely not start the year on the roster and Worley likely will, thats all I will say today.
> What are your promises for the next two seasons?
The only promises I make are to my wife and kids.
> Any last words to Canadians?
I am hoping for a successful season and want to thank everyone for voting and being involved. Victory will require everyones involvement as we continue to train and maintain GS, so keep active and lets have some fun!
