This makes a certain amount of sense.
However, surely you are aware of the all Australian private league that has been around for many seasons, and I imagine that the overlords of that league would allow you entrance if you were to drop a few "mozzies down at Skenes Creek" or Bogues beer references. And, if that league is defunct, you could begin a new one. What's more, you are not blocked from participating in the Australian forums because you play in Japan. Both of those ideas could help you reconnect with the nostalgia of your days in Australia.

I realise both of those things... but I've been part of a PL network (with about 6 scaled PLs, each with around 12 teams) for 10 seasons now (since it's inception by GM-Jason), I'd prefer to stay there too.
Forum activity... is not quite the same, I'd still feel a lil' like an intruder.

But thanks for the sentiment - and I may just drop by down-under (forum-wise), a bit.

And if "Utopia" was indeed named "Uluru"... it'd have a better chance of getting me!

Or just letting people do what they really want with the team that they have payed to play with. If anyone wants to only devote it to training NT players thats fine by me as it will cost them 10 bucks a year to do so. And i really can say what they should or not with their team. This goes for first or second team.
But then the fine thing about this is that anyone that can afford 10$/year can get the same advantage. So i dont see how it is unfair.

Great post. Ball'd.

Can you all stop spamming the forum with childish posts and use this to give some ideas for the "Utopia"?
The decision of 2nd team is already made, I love it, some don't like it that much...but please, stop posting here saying...i hate utopia, blabla...the utopia won't go back. Either give ideias to improve it, or keep ur dayly activitie on BB and don't comment

Ummm... I'm happy for you (that you *love* it). I don't: and guess what? My opinion is just as valid, even if it doesn't mirror yours.
This isn't a thread dedicated to the betterment of Utopia (a funny statement of itself). This is simply the Utopia announcement thread.

I - and others - remain hopeful that this isn't set in stone, and that perhaps some alteration could possibly occur IF we voice our displeasure. I don't think it's right to expect people to go meekly off into the night - merely because you don't agree with what's been said.

As far as user shiffd goes... we have history. That's wolph, and he's simply launching ad hominem attacks on where he used to dwell.

Among MANY players here in my country, I AM one of the managers that complained about having foreigners invade the country. Not because of xenophobia, but because we want to play with Uruguayan dudes. "Cultural integration"? Maybe in the fairy-tale idealistic world of some of the managers that put the "cultural-integration" argument forward that could work. But me, and many guys, I think we have the REAL world to culturally integrate. I would definitively not spend many minutes integrating in BB, no offense to BB, really, I love the game and I'll play it for many seasons to come.

But here in Uruguay... I don't know, maybe we do business different: we go out in the street, hang around, have many foreigners and stuff [actually, the country is historically made from immigrants], really. But for playing BB, we want people that understand our codes, our idioms, so we can share our local jokes and local products, etc, etc. And do you think we will have a blast about the "Henry's Swing Club", or whatever name your practical jokes or local idioms have? Am I suppose to culturally integrate with a Chinese or Russian or Pole dude speaking English? And why do we have to speak English? Why doesn't he (or you) speak Spanish, or me Polish or Russian? Yeah, right, we will not miss the manager that expects also to learn Russian or Polish or Spanish in BuzzerBeater.

Anyone standing behind the argument of "cultural integration" DOES NOT understand how Culture works. Believe me, I'm a nice guy and I love We are the world We are the children, but let's get realistic for a moment here: in what possible real-world a reasonable person could expect to culturally integrate in a sim sports game? Besides, like someone else said in another thread: how do we know all these foreing managers invading a country aren't actually hard-headed racist apes, nationalist orangutans? I don't think we can say for sure we have more john-lennons that kkks in BB. I wouldn't like a racist messing with my Uruguayan community, even if that person is actually Uruguayan.

And now we have people that doesn't like the new country Utopia BECAUSE OF THE NAME??? Really? In a game called "BuzzerBeater"? C'mon, man... Just play the damn Utopia or just don't play it.

And the manager having nostalgia for Australia, dude: can't you have enough Australia in Youtube or Facebook or the online FM radios/TV stations, newspapers, forums or whatever product the Australian cultural industry can manufacture, that you NEED the Utopia country to have "a real name"? I mean, geez, it now looks like BuzzerBeater is the biggest and most important cultural-gathering site in the world.

I'm going to play Utopia because of the characteristics it has, I don't care what's its name. It could be called The Henry's Swing Club Empire, I don't care. Just like I didn't care BuzzerBeater wasn't named after a real basketball league. I really REALLY hope the BBs get the administration of the leagues right, and actually move everybody together, so people doesn't play with bots frequently. You could say that the rate of "botification" in Utopia will be very very low, compared with the regular country botification rate [since managers would be losing two teams, not one]. So maybe we should expect a lot more stability in league's structure. Perhaps Utopia actually creates more international interaction between managers than the now obsolete nation-invading project. Think about it.
