I sat down with Stajan, the winner of the Canadian Season 20 Tournament and asked him a few questions. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Olanipekun: What were your goals at the beginning of the season?

Stajan: To get good training in and to not demote. I failed the former and the latter was handed to me. Credit to Blenkinsop that no other teams in the Big 8 even attempt to win their games.

Olanipekun:How did you feel about winning the Canadian Tournament?

Stajan: Unimpressed, like if I had won a silver medal (http://mckaylaisnotimpressed.tumblr.com). Unmoved, like if I was having a baby girl (kidding).

Olanipekun: What was your best game so far?

Stajan: My cup win against Herman Griffins was the most notable. I was losing when my C Demers (who was dominating and might be my best player) got hurt after 30 mins and my PF Hamon (who performs as my best player) fouled out after 35-40 mins and then came back to win by 12.

Olanipekun: What player really led your team this season?

Stajan: Statistically, my PF/C Hamon is the only constant. It's misleading because every PF racks up stats, though. All my other players are awful.

Olanipekun: What do you have to say to the people who said you bought a stud to win the Naismith?

Stajan: That had we both played LI/M2M and neither of us made any purchases, I'd still have won by 15-20. I can elaborate, but it's not very interesting and probably annoying.

Olanipekun: Thank you.

Stajan: Anytime.

The two time Naismith champ, GM-beanerz has being elected as the new Canadaian National Team Manager getting the majority of the votes(64%).
GM-beanerz will be no stranger to the pressure that comes with the job as he has 'been there, done that' but he will have no time to throw any sort of party as Canada leaves for Venezuela to take on the 53rd ranked Venezuelans today.
The road to domination starts now...(in this case the Americas Championship Tournament).

agreed
and agreed

I'm just going to hijack this thread and do a little closing statement/autobiography (which I have kinda posted bits and pieces everywhere previously)

Let's start from the top of the story... 2 seasons ago, seeing how Greerzilla basically had no viable candidates to run against him, I decided to throw my name out there to see what kind of feedback Greerzilla will have, as well as from the community.
At that point, I only wanted to know what type of comments will stem as a result of a relatively unknown candidate, how the votes will go....while having absolutely no intentions of winning (I didn't even vote for myself!)
What got me really confused was how someone who posted close to nothing, OchO_CinCo, claimed 2nd place with only 2 votes behind Greerzilla. While me, having at least said something on the debates thread, got a total of 2 votes.
That result got me really confused and concerned for the NT.

Knowing full well I won't be running any NT programs, I decided to pick up additional projects at work...
... wrong

A few weeks into the season, "the incident" happened... and seeing the candidates list from the past election, I was like, I should probably do this...?
If you tracked my history, I was actually doing things for the first while... but real life and work eventually caught up.
My activity dipped during the latter stages of S19 after we were knocked off the Americas... picked up a bit when I had to scout everyone.... then dipped like crazy a few weeks into S20.

Compounding 2 off-site forum switches in the middle of the S20 campaign, activity dropped probably to an all time low.
In hindsight, I probably should've cried louder for help... for that I admit fault
There was just no time to do much mid way through S20... the standard line up and motion became the default choices
My own team fell out of the cup, I forget to schedule my own scrims and an unchecked bank balance led to my team eventually getting sold off.

Stuff has balanced back a bit of late... still busy though... and that's my life story during the NT run.
All that aside, it was an invaluable experience and a buzzerbeater bucket list item checked off

I think i am a decent manager with good team building skills... but the pressure and time consumption at the NT level is just too great for me to handle =P
Support is there, but you really have to dig it out of the community, thats how I feel anyways...

Fairchild Controversy
Yes his appointment was suppose to be a joke and purposely kept him to generate controversy.
Why? Check out the posts by the NT community just about him...
Was he a bad player, no... best option, no... but other players were only slightly better than him
(back to my theory of not liking purely balanced SFs)

Lack of strategies used
No time, end of story

ZM-Saga to be remembered for...
I would like to believe that having a poor manager has brought the best out of the canadian community.
I don't think I've seen as much stuff being said about the NT program, especially during the few dark weeks of my tenure after the loss to England.

My proudest work is the depth chart
I have requested a few times for a depth chart to be created by previous NT managers but no1 ever did that.
Since I had the job, I decided I needed to fulfill my own request.
It should give training managers a vague idea of where their trainees stand and how far away their players are from the NT
The depth chart can still be worked on to provide more information and definitely publicized more, but that's something to do for later.

tl;dr stuff happened, im happy to have been NT manager, sorry for the mistakes

Nice post.

Your depth chart is fantastic and will be used for years to come.
