Game shape is vital - I'd play a lesser player with good GS, definitely. The output of the good GS player will be at worst similar, if not better, unless there is a big gap between their skills, and it rewards the managers who care about the NT and attempt to keep their players with good GS.

there isnt a cutting answer to this question.

GS as said is a vital thing espesially when you play in the higher levels of the NT matches.
my agenda is that players less than 7 in GS wont play in the coming match.
the goal is that most of NT squad will be in 8-9 GS most of the time but as you know that doesnt really depend on us.

in my opinion, a player that has a manager that care well the shape, is in many cases, most important of the skill of the player.
for example a C-PF with
IS 15 ID 16 RIM 15 shape 8-9 stable is better than a player with
IS 16 ID 17 RIM 16 shape 6-7 and unstable
For this reason, in addition to seeing the skill, I think we should also focus on managers who own the player to see if they can manage well the shape.

P.S. for example, I only used the main skill if the other skills are all the same
