I think with no matches for non-playoff teams it is a case of the rich getting rich and the poor getting poorer. First off, they miss 2 weeks of real training. So the playoff teams which already are stronger will get better. Second, teams that don't make the playoffs, will be without any income for 2 weeks(3 weeks if you include offseason). Playoff teams will be able to fatten their accounts which again leads to a widening gap between teams.

As far as the training, it's not much different than hattrick where the 1st place as well as 5th and 6th place teams get extra training during the week they play qualies. As for the economy, it makes sense since there is no additional cash prize for placing high.

Ok, so the concern is that the 1st and 2nd place teams get to play 4-5 playoff games during those two weeks, 3rd place plays 2 games, 4th place 1 game, 6th and 7th play 2-3 games, 5th and 8th play 0 games (and all teams get two scrimmages). One possibility, to keep things fair, is to have some extra (meaningless) games, say, a best of three match-up between 5 and 8, etc., or to have two scrimmages those weeks for teams without playoff games. Any thoughts?

I sitll think the advantage playoff teams get is too big. An extra scrimmage will help but it won't in bringing in money. For example, I made the playoffs and lost in the first round. The past 2 weeks I have lost almost 100k and it would have been had it not been my one playoff game being at home. I agree there should be some rewards for making the playoffs but 2 weeks with no income is a bit too much. That doesn't even include the offseason so in the end teams could end up going 3 weeks without making any money. 3 weeks of losing a good amount of money each week. After the draft when teams begin to put players on the TL, how can they expect to compete with bids from playoff teams? I think either make the scrimmage bring in income or maybe raise revenue.
