In one known league to me: a player bought around a month ago for 3.6M and now transfer-listed for 6.5M, 25 yo, no improvements. If such deals would go through it's not a very healthy sign of economy.
True, this is way too optimistic try by the seller but with current situation you never know:)
That's how they do it today and I admit I don't like it.

so in the short time it seems free agent = no reduction. I can write here that till next season the average price market will not decrease, in the meantime everyone will improve the arenas or second option will save money for the future or in the best case increase the arenas and save the money at the same time, it means that until half of next season there will be teams able to pay a lot of money for the best players. What is not clear at all to me is if this market is acceptable for the BBs and once again I don't know what will happen next season...

I agree with your analysis for the teams in the top divisions. However, new players in the lower divisions are probably looking at many seasons before, if ever, they will be able to compete in an economic or game play sense. In fact it seems to me that only the teams that started when buzzerbeater was created (within a year or so) will ever be in the upper leagues. With the top teams ability to purchase the best of the transfer list 18 year olds and huge warchests it seems unlikely that, even given many seasons a lower level team will approach the top. Although it is great to think you could train your way to the top, in reality in order to compete even in the lower divisions you would have to sell your best trainees. Anyway the game (without the economy part) is really fun and competing in your own niche will have to do.

All I said was that if someone is willing to pay x amount for a player, that player is not overpriced. I am in the same boat, pal. I am finding it very difficult to improve my team because of the prices. So, I am saving money. But it is a part of the game. There are thousands of teams and players in this game, and it seems right that the very best players should be affordable to only a few of the top teams in the top leagues. D.1 in Thailand, sadly, doesn't qualify. So perhaps it is right that I can't afford a 150k/week power forward.

In January 2008 the price of steel rose 25% overnight around the world. I know because I was building my house at the time. Is that "normal" economy? I don't know but it was real and it happened. Now might be the time to sell your good players and wait for the market to tumble before restocking. Gotta go with the flow, not fight the current.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

The only issue with hoarding money is you need to compete to stay afloat. So, if you can compete while saving your money, then good. Otherwise, you need to get into the market, for better or for worse.

I am not upset about the sharp price movements....it is more upsetting to see players with no secondaries trading hands for large money. It seems anyone that has spent time training a more balanced player is not getting the real premium deserved for the time they have spent training.

Having said that, I am confident when the 'carp hits the fan' it will only be the players with secondaries that hold up anywhere near their value in the market and anyone that has spent lavishly on a mono-skilled guy will feel the pinch..... sadly the reprucussions of this or any manager who feels he's bought at the top of the market to find out (after the BB announcement to diffuse inflation) will be lost managers as they will feel they have less chance of improving the gap between themselves and those above.

Ironically I am trying to sell or will be very soon but I feel the guys I've earmarked to sell are rising in value more per week than their actual salary....can you please not make any deflationary announcements til the play-offs :D

I completely agree. The problem is that many managers do not have a decent idea of how to value and/or train players. They see one skill in the green and think- i need him on my team - even though the guy can't pass, can't defend, can't handle the ball etc. I have seen a lot of players on the market who couldn't have made my starting five in season 4 selling for 3.5 million because they have 18+ in JS. I would never buy a player like that, but lots of people will, so congrats to those who are making money on those kinds of players. In the end, having a team of balanced players (Quadruple prodigious for teams like yours and quadruple average for teams like mine...) is what wins games so hopefully people will realize that and not give up the big bucks for bad players.

I suggest to increase amount of free agents, because right now there are only few good FA on TL, BB should put more FA on TL then prices will go down a little bit...I am seeking for a good center for some few weeks and prices are ridicilous...because there is not a good supply of good players.

BB's pls inrease amount of FA.

Some what you've written is different, I've a trading company and I'm working everyday with commodities (even if mostly alluminium and copper) and starting from the 2001 these market are changed a lot due to speculation of merchant banks, here we don't have speculation problem but fresh coins coming from the sky. It's very nice and fun to see the impact in the economy every time there is an update and your suggestion to wait could be perfect but only if there will be less money otherwise we can wait for long long time

This can't be true because almost everyone in the first few pages of this thread declared this move would completely drive down prices, causing the end of BB as we know it.

What is not clear at all to me is if this market is acceptable for the BBs and once again I don't know what will happen next season...


I seems that the market has stabilized over the last few weeks. Figure the best thing here would be to see it stay at this level for sometime. If the market seems to dip the easy move would be to remove the FA's again. Eventually they'll be able to adjust salaries to keep things stable.
