i would pick the first. BB is very weird with its ratings. i have a proficient inside scorer who only gets about 13 points per game. plus from a scouts perspective if the player has that good of ratings then 1 game doesn't tell the whole story. of the information we have it seems that the star/grade/potential ratings are the sure information whereas the game info is more of a gamble to rely on.

and I'm sorry that I have to put this think wrong, but on BB depends even on other preferences not just on a main skill

Oh, and I agree with the guy that said the level of the draftees seems to be higher.

I scouted 34 players. 14 5 stars and 9 4 stars.
Seems like a lot.

I scouted 28 players (9 of 'em two times) and only two of them are 5 stars ... Including one with a two star potential. So no I don't agree, the level of the draftees doesn't seem to be higher, it's just random.

OR....if the number of stars are just remotely similar across the leagues, then you should rank your non-scouted players high, seeing that they must be good.
I wouldn't hesitate to rank all the non-scouted players above the 3-star players if I was you.

Interesting option:
SG - 5star A+ 4star potential (sucked at his game)
SG - 5star A- 4star potential (did pretty good at his game)

Who would you guys pick?

I would pick the first without any doubt. I don't think the match matters that much. The REAL question is...what would you have done if player number 2 had had a 5-star potential. That would be hard!! Grade vs. Potential.

I would say, if you train that position than potential, if you do not train it... go for the grade :)

How active is your league? I made some stats from my league last draft and it showed that almost everyone got their first pick in the first round. Worst case scenario was only getting our second pick, and I actually think that only happened to two teams.

About 50%-75% of the teams in the league where active team. Of course it becomes harder to get your first pick if the league is more active and of course stats from one single league is not good enough to make any real conclusions, but still it gives you some hope.

Last season I invested less, had less info and got 2 very good and one sellable draftee with 8th pick in my league.

This season I invested 20k all season and I can see 32 players, 10 of them with full info, more than half of them with 4 and 5 star ratings, 4 of them with 2 stars and 1 of them with 1 star. My idiot scout invited all the visible 1 and 2 star players in for private sessions. Sound thinking - why bother with the good ones let's see if these guys have any water-bottle-and-towel carrying potential.

With 14th pick I guess my +250k are wasted as my chances of getting a good draftee are close to what I'd have with no investment whatsoever = random, therefore it's either the full 40k or nothing if you plan to be among the top teams in your league.

In a way that's fair - top teams need to be hindered to some extent - but what if you're at the bottom of your league? Can you afford the 20k investment that would suffice for at least one good pick?

That was my first thought too, but then of course the scout might have thought that he was 4* or 5* before he had him playing a training session, and after this training session the star rating has been updated. This would suggest that the star ratings alone are very unreliable.

However, I do not believe that this is the case, but it is a possibility.
