Well, my fabulous luck as U21 manager continues... The schedule for the first two games of the consolation tournament is up. Guess who we get to play two weeks in a row? None other than the 13th ranked team in the world - Suomi (Finland, I believe).

I was hoping to get some easy games at the start to build enthusiasm. Now what?

At first I thought it was a bug because I did not think you played a team twice until the knockout round. But it seems that I was wrong.

Finland's talent doesn't appear to be that much greater than ours, and U-21 rankings are very misleading considering every team gets overhauled at the end of the season at players get too old to continue with the U-21s. I wouldn't be surprised if the matches were split with each team winning their home match (assuming they don't put more effort than us in the match that gives us home-court advantage).

Yeah, to be honest I did not look at their team until now, although I am still cautious because the enthusiasm reset has not yet taken place. They may not necessarily have their best players on their roster.

Even if it is their best roster, the key phrase is "not much greater than ours". It seems they match us or better us by a bit at every position, at least salary wise.

A shock today as Bernier was dropped from the team because of a drunken rampage on Christmas Eve. Because of that, the doctor's say he is not fit to play for at least a week, maybe more.

Paul Perkins will take his spot to open the consolation tournament. If Bernier's game shape improves, he could be called back. If not, Moran will likely be called up shortly (provided he too does not go on a drunken rampage!).

I'm not going to talk much about the consolation tournament, unless we progress pretty far and the results start to matter. I think all the effort and cheering should be focused on getting RIP and the NT as much help as possible.

Having said that, I will try to post line-ups for every game on the off-site forum. Check out the one for our home game against Suomi: (http://bbcanada.forumotion.com/games-f5/suomi-canada-dece...). I was a bit all over the map on the tactics. I'm not really sure what to expect from Suomi, to be honest.

By the way, for anyone who has a U21 prospect, can you post the current text that you see for your player here? I would like to rework it as was suggested (if you have any ideas, please let know know, just keep in mind that I think the current message was already close to the text limit).

Thanks!

Is below what you were looking for?

If you are seeing this message, then it is possible that your player has what it takes to be scouted by Canada's U21 team. Please send your player's skills to Canada's U21 manager, thenewchuckd (24866).

Please check out the following message for guidelines on what I am looking for: (112815.1). In general, I am only tracking 18-19 yr olds who have star+ potential.

Also, if you want some thoughts on training, check this out: (112743.1).

This is the new message. You will see that I did not change much. Let me know if you have any comments. For those who have players being tracked, let me know if your player does not have this message. Also, I would be interested to know if any of the links do not work.

Thanks!

Note: One suggestion was to include a link to the off-site forum. While this is an interesting suggestion, I have a space issue. I only have about 45-50 characters left while an off-site forum link would require 70-80. If you think anything can be cut out to include the link, I am open to suggestions.

how about using a bit.ly or tinyurl or something for the offsite forum link? I know it's not the best idea, but it would cut-down the characters count.

if you only include the link=http://bbcanada.forumotion.com and the brackets, it's only 37 characters!
