My times have adjusted as they normally do for Daylight Savings ending. Across the space of a year my games run at four different times depending on how our clock changes and I'm assuming the clock in the host country of the game. But my pickup games are currently showing at 10:30pm, which is the same as all of the other 'correctly' scheduled games that I've already played.

Copped a solid loss yesterday - the Ducks are a VERY handy team.

Yeah, I saw that loss. You will likely get a chance at redemption in the post-season I'm thinking.

Home Grown; for teams who like a challenge!

Wow, four is a lot... In Finland we only have two different BB league/playoffs match starting times depending on DST changes. I think your assumption about the difference between your current local time and time in the host country should be the explaining factor... But I'm glad to hear PU games still remain on your schedule at the times they're supposed to.

Yes, having looked at the box scores and season team stats, SED is very difficult team to beat this season... However, with teams on relatively same skill (salary) level, in some cases injuries and/or fouling outs will play a role in determining the score.
Practically anything can happen within "any given Sunday", as they say in States (referring to the possibility of anyone being able to beat anyone in one match series - on any given day). Interestingly enough, HGL playoffs are played on Sundays, so will this become a self fulfilling prophecy, that we'll get some surprising results in playoffs? :)

Hello you all,
I was mentioning earlier about possibly providing some team/players average age data later on. Well, I'm glad to inform, that the time has come, here you are! :)

Below you'll find average ages; first number is teams' Top 8 earners' average age, and second number is the average for Top3 earners of the team. Table is organized so that youngest teams based on Top8 values are listed first (and if tied, younger Top3 first), and oldest last.

At the end, after the table, I also listed some of the league averages - more on that below.

HGL average ages based on Top8 and Top3 player salaries:
(Teams' players listed on descending order based on their salary, and Top8 and Top3 players on that list are included in this listing)

Top8 earners Top3 earners
Team Aver.age(T8) Aver.age(T3)
LMS 21,6 22,7
HCH 24,3 25,0
SRS 24,5 33,0
RAJ 25,0 27,3
BUC 25,1 22,3
BIG 25,1 26,3
D 26,1 25,7
LGM 26,1 31,7
SUM 26,4 26,0
WMO 26,9 31,0
TRO 27,0 27,0
SED 27,8 30,3
ED 28,5 30,0
HAD 29,0 32,0
WAG 30,5 32,3
HEY 30,8 32,7

HGL averages: 26,5 28,5

Below you'll also find an average age of players, based on their salary position within their respective teams.
For example, P1 refers to "Player 1" in a team, who earns most money per week in that team.
P8 refers to a player who earns 8th most in a team, and so on.

HGL average ages based on salary position/ranking within their teams:
P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 P8
28,4 27,9 29,1 26,3 24,1 26,3 25,9 24,4

Data is accurate on April 28th, 2025 (after Round 6 of play in HGL Season 1).
However, likely it's going to remain the same (or almost the same) due to the nature of HGL for the rest of the Season 1!

Congrats Deano

- HEY vs. WMO (HEY 5-1, $520K. WMO 5-1, $328K) --> 108 - 107

A bit unlucky, and my point-gard, second salary of my team, was sorely missing for injurie, it was too much to challenge Deano

It's nice to be in first place in some statistics. (^)

You are actually going to have very strong Top 2 players in your team within couple of seasons if (and likely as?) you keep on giving Jaunkamps and Skucs more training time! Also Muižzemnieks, a 19 yo. MVP, sounds like something that could have a potential to become a big factor in the future! :)

Having created that table, it also serves me as a proper wake up call (read: cold shower), as I'm one of the oldest teams in HGL and my "younger generation" just don't (mainly) have what it takes to train them up to the very high TSP... So it's more or less inevitable/matter of time, that'll I'll likely be sinking in HGL rankings (let's say, at least in terms of salary rankings and in Regular Season success) after my 30yo+ players will start their steep skill decline in couple of seasons... :/

It was a tight game, I think you’ll get me next time.

As far as statistics go, I'm not looking forward to today's match statistics after extremely likely being run over by a freight train called Santa Eufemia Ducks (Top 8 salary $637k) as it's very likely going to be the ugliest loss of my HGL history xD But at least it's a good measure of current level...

As far as Top8 salaries go, Round 8 seems more uneven with bigger underdogs around this time (Heywood Big Dogs not being one of the big underdogs though).

Salary wise, I'd expect LGM-TRO to be the most even match of the Friday; LGM 4 wins and 3 losses with 222K Top8 salary, and TRO currently at 1 win and 6 losses with $216K salaries. Good luck to everyone for Round 8!

Hello all,
We're more than halfway through the Regular Season 1 of HGL, so here's some comparison on how teams have fared so far, compared to their "salary rankings". I have, however, used current Top 8 salaries of teams (rather than pre-season salaries) but they haven't changed considerably for any team.

In table below, current league position in league table is mentioned first, and then preseason salary ranking and current Top 8-salary (bolded in brackets) mentioned next, followed by team name and current regular season record (so practically league table position copy-pasted there; wins-losses-points-scoring difference-forfeit losses).

Please note that in creating this table, if some teams are tied in wins and have already played against each other this season, I have not manually checked out which team won their meeting so therefore this league table might not reflect absolutely correct positions for teams tied in wins.

1. (2nd; $637K) SED 8 0 16 337 0
2. (1st; $639K) HAD 8 0 16 244 0
3. (3rd; $520K) HEY 7 1 15 164 0
4. (7th; $280K) ED 6 2 14 169 0
5. (5th; $328K) WMO 6 2 14 163 0
6. (4th; $371K) SUM 5 3 13 115 0
7. (6th; $305K) RAJ 5 3 13 76 0
8. (9th; $222K) LGM 5 3 13 31 0
9. (8th; $270K) WAG 4 4 12 59 0
10. (11th; $211K) D 3 5 11 -42 0
11. (13th; $148K) HCH 3 5 11 -70 0
12. (14th; $98K) BUC 2 6 10 -161 0
==========
13. (10th; $216K) TRO 1 7 9 -85 0
14. (12th; $196K) LMS 1 7 9 -94 0
15. (15th; $59K) BIG 0 8 8 -453 0
16. (16th; $55K) SRS 0 8 8 -453 0

Like you can see, not all has gone totally as expected (well, salary isn't perfect tool to compare team strengths, but it's likely the best one that's openly available to all as I'm sure not all of us are willing to reveal their Top8 players skill numbers for instance...). But it's worth noting, that given the number of "uneven matches with big underdog", and how they are randomly organized to team schedule makes this sort of listing fair/equal for all teams only at the end of the Regular Season. So please remember to take it with a grain of salt - it's there for "entertainment purposes" so to speak as not all teams have yet faced all teams.

As far as other comparisons are concerned, it's going to be interesting to find out how much Top 8 salary development has taken place for each team from Season 1 to Season 2!

Speaking of which, @ all managers playing in HGL:
We have already played almost two thirds of Season 1 Regular season, so I'd urge all managers currently playing in HGL, and all managers considering future participation to let me know by the end of Regular Season 1 (played on May 26th, 2025) if they wish to continue in HGL in the Season 2 as well, so we can start making plans and arrangements if number of teams for Season 2 of HGL will change - thank you!

Naturally, I'm in for Season 2, and also willing to continue as a league Commissioner should HGL managers approve that!
