In your league, there are some good potential draftees: (perennial allstar or above)

(26629132)
(26629163)
(26629158)
(26629120)
(26629126)
(26629125)

Thanks. But good potential draftee is not equal to good draftee. A pern. allstar draftee with $2XXX salary (which means multiple pitiful or awful) is hardly trainable. There are only about 2 18yo draftees with $4XXX salary and star potential or above. There is indeed a $5XXX 18yo, but he is a bench warmer. I believe such situations happen in many leagues.

So how do you know if this is the case or not with these players? You can't assume these are bad prospects when you can't see them, right? You have decided that it was a bad draft and that drafts are getting worse looking at the exact same information everyone else is looking at. A point which I think you are making, incorrectly, based on a very minute sample size anyways.

I've spent 0$ on scouting and ended up with this player:

Wally Brubaker (26456358) Power Forward

Weekly salary: $ 4 641
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 0
Age: 19
Height: 6'5" / 196 cm
Potential: superstar
Game Shape: respectable
Jump Shot: mediocre Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: inept Handling: inept
Driving: awful Passing: average
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: average Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: inept Free Throw: pitiful

Experience: atrocious

I'm extremely happy with that pick and dare say most of us have had a nice draft in Australia.

It's not only about potential, salary and age. It's about what you can make out of them.

There are also some back up players that are more valuable than NT starters.

I just did the scouting for this season's Slovenian trainees and I was a bit disappointed. Out of 577 teams there are only 12 HoFs and 19 MVPs. There are 132 players with at least 3.5k salary and allstar potential.

132, really? Out of 1731 players? That's 7,6%. I expected more.

Remember that salaries for 18 yr olds have been pushed down in last few years as they've lowered salaries on all players during recent off-seasons.

of course this is a small sample size and whether those salary draftee are useful or not still depends on the skillpoint distribution. but I'm not making these noise just because the draftees in my league is bad. I was a scout before. I have observed the player market for seasons. I know the trend. and I think it at least deserves public awareness and discussion. On the team level, it affects how we scout and draftee market price. It also means the draftees you develop all seasons along are unlikely to contribute when one day your team is promoted to D1 or D2. On NT game level, it makes those big nations even more dominating. Polarizing will be more serious.

i know...we usually set the bar at 4500 for centers and 4200 for other positions, but since i took over our u21, we are looking for 3.5k and up.

I think that might be the main reason why some people think the drafts are getting worse. We can't see the skills, only potential and price and now prices all look 20-40% lower than they used to be.

So you look at a superstar with a $3000 salary and you think he's a bad prospect. In the old days, he would have had a $4200+ starting salary and looked like a great prospect. But its the same guy, just with different window dressing.

All the more reason when it pisses me off when this happens. A newish team to the game gets blessed with a 7k 18 year old Superstar center who is 7'2" AND a 5k 18 year old P. Allstar Center who is 7"0". He gets two amazing prospects due to being in a crappy bot league and wants to train both of them. Soon he will have two salary beasts that his team can't handle so he will have to sell them. Any thoughts on this?

(23436) The team with these two amazing players..
