I actually think you made the right call using the 2-3. defense. I think besides offensive not playing your strength the only other thing was he put more into it than you did. I use 2-3 quite often aginst people plating inside and I haven't really seen any major problems. I rarely play man 2 man, mainly because I am still in a league that most people don't change tactics that often so I know what offense they are going to use and can plan accordingly. Man 2 man seems like the safe bet when don't really want to guess wrong.

I've seen some really strange results from the zone defenses. In one of the games this season, I played LI against a 2-3 and my center went 13-14 (only miss was last second 3) so he was 13-13 on the inside against a more expensive center. The team I was playing against had a good inside defense rating as well. Maybe his center just wasn't enough even with the added zone. I noticed more alley oops and I wonder if the decreased outside defense allows the perimeter players to move the ball better- leading to more easy buckets. In addition, I read a post stating that the 2-3 zone increases defense on the inside but doesn't help against what he called 'close shots' regarding results from running his game analyzer. Making the argument that it is not worth giving up so much outside defense to only increase some defense inside without having an advantage on close shots.

my opponent in this cup match had a 30 k salary center (petho) (btw my best player in team has 8 k salary) and he played patient all the time, which resulted in the center taking the majority of the shots. i played 2-3 zone and pretty much got what i wanted keeping him below %50 and he could only attempt 9 shots.
