One of the things I love about buzzerbeater!
Not just about having better ratings and players..... game shape, training and tactics all matter!

PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
This very first award goes to…………… Primitivo Dillomes from the Frenja Fireworks! Dillomes had an amazing week, scoring 65 points and pulling down 35 rebounds! Well done to him and the fireworks! Will he be able to defend his title?? We will see on next week’s edition!

TEAM OF THE WEEK!

This is the first ever team of the week, so the players would have been playing extra hard! This is how It’s going to work: There will be at least 2 players in every position, but for 2 positions there will be one extra, those two extras will be the reserves, if your player is the first to be named in that position, he made the starting line up! If he is second, then he is a backup!

Here it is fellas!! The Team Of The Week!

PG: M. Redondo (Lew), O. Estades (Sou).
SG: A. Rossi (Ser), A. Comyn (Haw).
SF: P. Tvoroch (Sal), G. Gorenjscek (Fla).
PF: S. Rochford (Fre), C. Balmaceda (Lew), E. Battaglino (Haw).
C: P. Dillomes (Fre), R. Lap Kay (Sal), S. Chubinidze (Bur).

Surprisingly enough, not one player from The Oaks or The Marmots! LOL!

Moving on…. The first Rising Star Nominee of the season is to be announced!
Congratulations to Timmy Coghill from Dannys Boys.! Timmy is just 20 years old, and his future is looking bright! This week he pulled down 38 total rebounds! He also put 52 points on the board in just these 2 games! Many great things are expected from Timmy, and we wish him all the very best!

In International News………

The Australian national team will continue their season 24 world cup campaign in japan on Tuesday morning against Algeria. Australia is red hot favourites to take out their second straight victory in the tournament, after defeating Ukraine last week. In Junior National team news, the u21s are sitting second in group A of the round robin games in the junior asian championships, with a 2-0 record, they are preparing to take on Saudi Arabia tomorrow night, with the tournament being hosted right here in Australia after the Australia U21s had a very successful confederations cup last season!

Now who is leading the stats??

Points: R. Lap Kay (Sal) 27.3
Rebounds: Timmy Coghill (Dan) 17.1
Assists: Simeon Fatseas (Fre) 8.6
Steals: B. Basman (Aid) 3.6
Blocks: R. Sofic (Per) 3.2

That Wraps up the statistical leaders, so now it’s time to see what’s in stall for week 5 of the season 24 regular season! (in the next part :)

Match Previews (Tuesday July 16th)

Serial Thrillers @ Saleeba Globetrotters. The trotters have been looking good lately, but the thrillers will just be too classy. Thrillers

Flames @ Frenja Fireworks. Frenja have been taking steps towards the playoffs, this game will be a step back! Flames

HawthornFC @ Perth City Kings. Hawks will take last game as a reminder that this league is getting stronger but its bad timing as they hit an ever improving kings side. Kings

Valley Eagles @ Dannys Boys. Just another demonstration of how much difference there is in skill between the conferences. Eagles

Rampaging Marmots @ Burnside Tigers. The Marmots will bounce back after a tough loss, while the tigers continue their horrific season! Marmots

The Mighty Oaks @ aidzz panthers. I’ll give the panthers some credit if they can hold the deficit to under 50 points. Oaks

Jack Hammers @ Lewie The Lip. The Lip showed us that the championship is anyone’s last week, now they are ready to start showing us that it’s theirs! The Lip

St. George Illawarra Dragons @ Southern All-Stars. All-Stars will finally get themselves back on the winners list after a tough last couple of weeks, gee the fans will enjoy this! All-Stars

Match Previews (Saturday 20th July)

Lewie The Lip @ The Mighty Oaks. WOW! Pencil this one in as a game to watch this week! 1st vs 1st, what a game, the oaks should bid themselves lucky to have HCA. Oaks

Burnside Tigers @ Jack Hammers. It will be tough on the road for the tigers, but in the end they will win this one as expected. Tigers

Frenja Fireworks @ Rampaging Marmots. Even if they were at home, the fireworks wouldn’t have a chance. Marmots
Saleeba Globetrotters @ HawthornFC. The trotters can challenge, but the hawks to strong at home in this one. Hawks

Dannys Boys. @ Serial Thrillers. Not a fan of how the thrillers go about things on the court, but it will be enough to get them a win here. Thrillers

Southern All-Stars @ Valley Eagles. Big test for the all-stars, as the wear and tear of the regular season starts to show, a test that they should just pass at DV Stadium! All-Stars

aidzz panthers @ St. George Illawarra Dragons. If ever there was a time for the dragons to win….. It’s now! I’m backing them. Dragons

Perth City Kings @ Flames. The Kings are trying to improve on last season’s poor inter-conference record; this is the game that will show us how much they have improved in our GAME OF THE WEEK! Kings

Well that’s the wrap for this week boys! Sorry it’s a little scrappy as I am trying to figure out a good format, which was why it was a few hours late! Hope you liked anyway and good luck this week! :)

Well, Lewie...good win. A lucky win perhaps...but a win none the less. Thankfully Tambaraja's injury was only a game one or I may have had to go all in or all out! lol

The game was still very handy for me in terms of knowing your strengths and weaknesses and changes needed that will be enough to stop you and the Marmots...

Let's look at it logically.

1. Lewie put more effort in but I had HCA which kind of evens it out although I probably come out a few points ahead; and

2. 7 minutes into the game my best player is injured (Tambaraja); and

3. His direct opponent at SG goes on to be the game's highest score. Importantly he hits 3 threes that he would never have hit otherwise, not to mention fg shooting; and

4. On a BO offense where players are looking to consolidate on player mismatches, losing my best player meant that other players who wouldn't have put up as many shots did...and shot poorly.

With all things considered I think the teams matched up well in this encounter. I personally believe I would have got over the line by a handful had Tambaraja not been injured. But of course, that is just my opinion knowing my players.

So...

...to make sure I keep the pressure up I have upgraded 2 positions in the interim...significantly...

..add this to 5 trainees who are getting better every week...

:-)

@Burnside Tigers...my shooter will be out for a big game Tuesday! :-)

I wonder if my one trainee (and the other two who are older but still get some training) will be more valuable than your five. It's an interesting question!
