You're both right. I hadn't really thought about that - and we did have a time where FAs flooded the market and overall prices were a joke. It's still kind of disappointing that some players who are NT level players (sometimes with great skills) don't get sold for much because their salary can only be sustained by League 1 teams.... but that's not really the point in this discussion.
So I guess you're right. But maybe lowering the limit to 250k would be a compromise.
