We got beaten up by Hrvatska today, no big surprise. Although I thought it'd be a lot worse than it ended up, only losing 99-74. Especially since Panjaitan, our only good guard and only one with good GS, got injured 14 minutes into the game. Here's a link to the box score: (12717)

Len Stevens had a nice game filling in for Panjaitan, leading the team with 18 points on 6-11 shooting in 36 minutes. Least valuable player goes to bin Mahadzir, who played only 2 minutes, yet managed to have 2 fouls and chuck up three 3's, missing them all. Well played, sir.

Yeah sorry about Stacey's GS lately, still recovering from the one week when I had an OT game and my starting SG had fouled out. Got it back to Resp last week so should be Strong or better from now on.

Great great win against Poland... At one point, we were down by double digits in the 3rd qtr but came back from that deficit and still managed to win by 5...

Good job namssor...

Pretty incredible that we won this game over Poland! Here's the box score: (12746)

I figured what the heck let's go with a Normal and see what happens. BOOM.

What an exciting finish. We were down 108-104 with 10 seconds to go when Panjiatan drained a 3 to make it 108-107. We fouled a Polish guy who shoots 12% from the line, and naturally he misses them both. Bin Hashim grabs the rebound, we push it down the court, and at the buzzer Panjaitan drains ANOTHER THREE. 110-108 final score!

Most valuable player for us was...hmm...how about the guy that scored SIXTY-TWO POINTS!! Panjaitan absolutely went nuts, going 24-41 from the field, including 9-17 from three, along with 5 assists and 4 steals. And he did that against a zone with $170k and $127k guards defending him. Amazing stuff!

They were ranked #33 in the world (we're #75), nearly their entire roster is over $100k salary (they even have a guy with a $472k salary!) and somehow we pulled it off! Now we're 2-3, and have a legitimate shot at going 4-4 which would be great! We'll take our beating against Italy next week but then have winnable games against Belarus and Barbados to end the tourney. Keep up the training!

As expected, Italy crushed us today, 123-67. Their match ratings were pretty incredible: (12785)

MVP for us was yet again Panjaitan. He scored 41 of our 67 points (only 5 people on our team scored, and only 3 scored more than 2 points). He put all those points up against a $190k guard in proficient GS too. He has 103 points in the last 2 NT games against very very tough teams. Pretty awesome.

Our last 2 games are against #63 Belarus and #96 Barbados. Hopefully we can do well in those games. Keep up the training!

Wow, was our game with Belarus one for the ages today! It went FOUR OVERTIMES! We pulled it out 153-142, here's the boxscore: (12814)

Recap:
It was close the whole way in regulation time, and Panjaitan hit a jumper with 11 seconds to go to send it to overtime #1.
First overtime we were down 5 but clawed back and Quinton hit 2 free throws with 8 seconds to go to send it to overtime #2.
2nd overtime we were up 5 with 35 seconds to go but a score, a steal, and a 3 tied it up. Searles missed a shot, on to overtime #3.
3rd overtime was tight all the way, they hit a shot with 13 seconds to go to tie it. Panjaitan missed the game-winner, on to overtime #4!
4th overtime, Quinton and Panjaitan absolutely could not miss, and we ran away from Belarus, outscoring them 19-8 in the 4th OT.

MVPs were Quinton and Panjaitan obviously. 50 points (and 63 minutes!) for Panjaitan and 38 points for Quinton! We also held their 346k salary Center to "only" 9-23 shooting, good work Eddy Hales and Val Montana! Overtime games are fun because they inflate your team ratings, so we saw the first sensational team ratings in NZ history today.
