IIRC, BB-Charles said that the sum of skills is qualitatively correct, which indicates that it is not on each individual skill, but suggests that is on some overall measure of skill - but not a simple sum at least.

okay, let me help here.

this is not 'I think' , this is what a BB (think it was Charles) said on the forums a while ago (sorry don't recall which forum):

the soft cap works on the totality of the player, not on single skills. Basically it will look at the salary of the player when training occurs (because the wage more or less indicates the player's total skill for his position), and then decide if the cap is reached. If the cap is reached, the player will still get training, but much less then when the softcap would not have been reached.
Example: an all star player could reach a salary of 25k before reaching his soft cap, while a bench warmer might have reached it with a salary of 10 k. NOTE THAT THESE NUMBERS ARE NOT FOR REAL, it's just to give some example.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

Potential has been introduced just this season, so I doubt anyone can help you. I've noticed that high potential players are ridiculously overpriced - does everybody really intend to train their players up to legendary? For the moment, I decided to stick with low-level all-star players that I intend to train for a couple of seasons, I don't think they'll hit the cap that soon.

It was indeed Charles who said it, here the quote ;-)

Judging by your answer, potential is the total accumulation of the values for all a player's skills? With a player with low potential for example, I can train ONE skill to a high level (Let's say sensational) or train multiple skills to a lower level (Let's say strong). Is this correct?

the hardest part right now is that

even though a price range has been introduce, it doesnt usually being followed anyways it wasnt intended to be anyway.

but with this also comes to some people who really makes the buying so awesome and crazy such a roller coaster ride, i would notice some players of the same goes for exmaple a 3 million but on another day they are just around 2 million.

before i can buy potential trainees or even nice players for less than a million but now erverything seems to jack up to a million!

now with the potential thing, which i think to some i cant imagine them continue training a player on a position for 3 seasons non stop! anyways its just me
