The always comedic Mod-Bballin is the latest interviewee on David's Doses.
The topic of the interview was, 'Why should Canadian coaches train players rather than buy good, aging players?'
Mod-Bballin got into his comedic mood early,'Why train a Canadian player? Why not? Canadians obviously train faster and past their potential. Not. There are several reasons to train Canadian players however:
First off, training anyone will help your team in the long run. It can help your team later in the season when other managers are scouting your team and are using salaries to compare your players to theirs, but since you have been training your player, he is far better than his salary suggests. Number one reason, deception!
Secondly, merchandise! The more homegrown talent you have, the better your merchandise is, the more money you can make per week, the more money you can out towards your arena, which nets you more money, which can get you wins! :D
Lastly, words on the street is GM-beanerz sends you money if your player makes the NT or U-21.'
Hah, Classic Bballin.

All good things have to come to an end. This was the truth of the matter as Canada got their first loss of the season against a formidable Swiss squad. The final score was 80-94.
The biggest storyline going into this game was Kev Fairchild being on the Canadian National Team and the game shape of Christopher Moran.Sadly, none of these two got playing time on Monday.
The Swiss team had home court advantage but lots of people thought this was a winnable game for Canada and they were shocked when the scoreboard buzzed and most Canadians spent time gazing at the scoreboard as their beloved Canadians fell in defeat.
Pundits said one reason Canada lost was because of their switch from the Inside Game to a more fluid system in Motion.
Some notable statistics for the game were:
Glen Richards: 10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists.
Herman Kearns: 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists.
Tommy Germain: 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists.

yes i agree with Morwood here, he is putting a lotta effort and like he said, he is quite young so to put in the effort is amazing. he updates regularly and really puts some time on it. you can always expect this guy to be online and to be contributing to the forums in his first season is pree cool. although he might have had some arguments and controversies in the middle, lets forget bout them and move on...the NT needs a writer

i congratulate the effort
but at the same time, there has to be more content to the writing

just throwing in random comments isnt helping with the growth of the program but it could drive the mass to potentially inaccurate information

i mean not to say i've done a superb job, but to be an official NT writer, i would like to see more substance in the posts

for instance, why was this a winnable game? why did the crazy NT coach decide to run motion?
maybe some background to why this was even a contest to start with... was it actually an exciting finish to the game or were we blown out right from the get go?
what might have factored into the loss?

i mean its easy to write stuff, but either it be funny and have entertainment value, or lets stick to the facts or have some actual information
i am critical, because i expected more

What are you going to do about the fact that England is now only 3 spots behind you in the world rankings? The Canadian people should be outraged!

:P Just kidding, great job so far and hope you go far in the tournament(can't decide to cheer for you or the US...)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I addressed most of your complaints in the article.
Why was this a winnable game? Because Canada is ranked ahead of Switzerland and has beaten Switzerland before.
Why did the crazy NT Coach decide to run motion? How should I know, I'm not the NT Coach.
Contest background? Pretty sure my paragraph on Canadians staring at the scoreboard gave it away. Wasn't as close as we would have expected for a loss.
What factored into the loss? I said the transition from Look Inside to Motion which made our inside players like Maja and EAK pretty much useless.

All your complaints were in the article, mate.

Don't get me started on the national team rankings. We just finished beating Australia(who is ranked higher), on the road and we lost ranking points and they gained some. :( lol

I don't think it matters who you cheer for. Us beating USA... HA! That'd be surprising..

You Americans are a very daring group of people. What gives you the audacity to invade the Canadian forum? I'm just kidding. The U.S.A vs Canada game should be interesting. Shouldn't you be rooting for the United States? I mean you're from the US, be a good patriot of your nation. I certainly hope Canada pulls off a upset, if it happens. By the way, I'm on my way to invade the American forum.

This one time I was watching Canada U21 take on USAs U21 team and it was a close game. It was 94-90 with 15 seconds left and Canada hit a 3 to make it 94-93. Then Canada fouled USA and they missed one of the free throws and then finally with 1 second left Canadas center stepped outside the 3point line and drained another 3 ball to give Canada a 96-95 victory. Everyone in the gamechat was going wild and as the USA inbounded the ball and attempted a fullcourt prayer the buzzer went off and the prayer was not answered. The buzzer kept on going off though, over and over and over until I realized that buzzers don't ctually go off in buzzerbeater. So I woke up and hit the snooze button on my alarm.

The U.S.A vs Canada game should be interesting.

Im hoping that this game never needs to happen unless it is a final.
