If you learn how to drive, you learn how to avoid being blocked.
Now when you try blocking someone driving, you know one more trick he can use to avoid your block, so you've become a better shotblocker.

Please, do not start with odd reasonings.

If I learn how to defend outisde, I know one more trick on how avoiding defending. OD must train also driving/JS/JR
If I learn how to defend outside, I know one more trick on how avoiding badpasses. OD must train also PAS.
If I learn how to defend outside, I know one more trick on how deny shooting (yes, even from outside). OD must train also SB.
If I learn how to defend outside, I know one more trick on how avoiding the guy I guard to take the rebound. OD must train also RB.
Defence is a really though work, if I learn how to defend outside I'll train also my resistance. OD must train also stamina.

And so on.

This is just about OD. We can play the game "justify everything" for all skills. You made your turn, I made mine, who's next?

Wait...you are a professional trainer and all you can say as an argument to Moutlinho's post is:

Tell me, please, that you're ironic

Wouldn't you elaborate and make your stand a bit more legitimate?

All 9 other skills ? Or one, several or all unrelated skills ?

"...additional training in other skills..." isn't perfectly clear.

And there is : "Although players will always receive a set amount of cross-training, it is difficult to predict which unrelated skills will improve on a weekly basis." So not all skills would improve.

10% of OD doesn't give a pop in all other skills in 10 weeks. OD doesn't give a pop in 1 week, in most cases :)

The example of driving training session that can train 10% of SB is (IMHO) pure craziness :-)

when you drive inside you get blocked once in 10 attempts..
that gives you 10% shot blocking skill, you learn by watching..

when you handle the ball you get the feeling..
as you handle 10% of the ball when blocking a shot, you get 10% shot blocking skill..

when you are taking a jump shot you jump..
you also jump when trying to block a shot..
that gives you 10% shot blocking skill..

when you are taking free throws you try to concentrate..
think about something irrelevant (like shot blocking!) so you can make your shots..
that gives you 10% shot blocking skill..

i can't understand what the fuss is all about, this system is logical.. :)

I ask to rename the thread title in: "Funny thoughts!"

Seriously, are you another funny man?
Only the point on Jump shot has a minimum sense, the other.. i hope that's a joke!

I understand it like "all skills will slowly be improving, but week by week, it will be hard to tell which one will pop.

Aha ok, now I understand. I understood it's like this:

1 week of OD at 90% and all other skills at 10/9 % (because 10% is distributed among 9 skills, so 10/9). But you are right, this would take each skill nearly 100 weeks to improve for a full pop. I think it's more like you said.

I don't think "improving" means "getting a pop". It's simply improving.
