How does this work who gets the promotion, the regular season conference champ or the playoff conference champ? Reading the rules says the playoff conference champ but in our league only the regular season champ got promoted.

http://www.buzzerbeater.org/BBWeb/rules.aspx?nav=Standings
When these champions are decided, the winners from each conference face off in a best-of-three showdown. The winner of the division finals is crowned champion of the division, and is promoted to a higher level of divisions.

Standings
1 los angelas suc.. 19 3 2068 1722 0.864
2 Gamp United 18 4 1881 1649 0.818
3 Douglas Mean Ma.. 18 4 1923 1751 0.818
4 Shamrockers 13 9 1855 1754 0.591

playoffs
Semi's
Shamrockers beat los angelas 101-88
Douglas beat Gamp 79-75

Finals
Douglas beat Shamrockers 103-88

Douglas won the division finals but didn't get promoted while only the regular season division champ got promoted.

Neither one. Only the league (playoff) champion is guaranteed a promotion. That would be Hoofhearted Icemelted in your case.

Any other promotions were due to bot cleanup, which is based on the regular season record. If there are enough bots in higher leagues, several teams can get promoted this way.

The only team that is guaranteed promotion is the league playoff champion.

But after the regular promotion/relegation, there is a bot cleanup where additional teams from a division can promote. From D.IV this can include promotion to replace bots relegated from D.II; bots that would have remained in D.III (such as a 5th place team); and bots that promoted to D.III (only about 3/5 of USA D.IV leagues are full).

The extra teams that promote are selected based on their regular season record: (1) conference place, (2) games won, (3) point difference, (4) points scored.

In the past, this extra promotion has extended down several places, but this season only 1st place teams with pretty good records were promoted. LA promoted as a 1st place team with a 19-3 record.

While 18-4 might have been enough to get promotion through the cleanup, your 3rd place finish would have stopped it.

I know this an old thread but I have been wondering this exact thing. Last season I was in IV.7 and won the finals so I was promoted. Fine.

The rules say "In divisions VI and lower, both playoff finalists will promote to the higher level of divisions. To keep our community fresh and lively, the next best teams in your division will promote to fill in any Bot-controlled team spots in higher leagues."

However my Finals opponent the shepparton shooters are still in IV.7 while the orlando florda magic who had the next best regular season record after me, did get promoted to DIV III (where they got smashed every week and then went bot!).

Are the rules wrong or have I got something messed up?

you understand something wrong ;) Even if the rules are a bit misleading with "your division"

For bot promoting the best season standing count(could be also more team from one league, and none of the other(PO didn't count).

The other thing is protion from sixth division where both conference winner will promote.

I think you misunderstood what he meant. The rules say that in Australia in Division 4, both finalists in the Playoff Final will advance to the next division up regardless of whether they win or lose. I have read this as well. I'm not sure why they didn't sorry.

VI is 6 not 4, and his quoted statement there was an VI and not an IV which is the fourth league. And lower leagues then the foúrth are 7/8 etc., not lower numbers because you promote upwards.

Ha ha, my bad. Yes I read VI as IV. Fairly stupid mistake. I will smack myself in the head now.
