Hi everyone,

Happy to be re-elected, even if i was the only candidate....

First of all, i want to thank everyone who trains and keeps up the good forms !! The squad is getting better every season..

And, as you notice, i switched to English in stead of German, is a bit easier for me in writing. Any comments can be written in German, i can read it better than i write....

I've done the scouting for this season scouted 178 players in the category 21>18 yr and Pot. 10>8.
If you've got a potential for the U21, you've received a BB-Mail from me, and probably you've already answered it when i
look at my inbox ;-)

This season we've got the European U21 Championship in Bosna i Hercegovina. We are in a pool of 8, among them The Netherlands, my home-country. Looking forward to that game. I will discuss the pool in another topic.

For now, keep up the good work in training and keeping up the forms, "Let's make Austrian Basketball great".

Regards,
Rovali.

The Austrian Guys for Season 38

Out of 178 players i've made currently this choice:

Big guys for in the paint
Thomas Buchegger
Our nr.1 Center, just moved to Utopia. Currently no better Big then him in this age in Austria.

Maximilan Mittermann and Jürgen Salamander
Both playing for Thalassa Ottakring in Utopia, they have to fight for the PF-spot in the squad.
Odds currently in advantage of Mitterman, but Game Shape is also important.

The 'in-between' guys on SF
André Hubmann and Antal Zsengeller
Hubmann currently plays in Srbija, Zsengeller in Poland. Both could function as backup for the other bigs,
but could both also play on SF.

Kaindl Gottlieb
Also playing in Utopia, with 190cm guard- and inside-skills Kaindl could play on SF in an outside-focused offense.
Defensively he lacks some skills to stop tall opponents.

The small, fast guys who might shoot, but can also pass : The Guards
Gerhard Richter, Daniel Schneeberger and Kevin Weber
Two positions, three options. It depends on the opponent who plays.. Richter, playing in Srbija, is the better passer, Schneeberger (Suomi) is the better shooter and Weber (HGB Nerds) has the best sideskills. For me it's great to have these three options.

Daniel Haselmayr and Arndt Stolz
But it get's even better. These two guys are only 20 yr and are so close to the three above.
Haselmayr is fully trained by Daveed (Wels Mads 2.0) and is becoming a strong PG.
Stolz (Hightowers, TacticsEngineer) is being trained to be 'the best guard in Austrian history'.
These two will keep the others focused.

Heinrich Klinger and Alois Pfisterer
Klinger (SBG Promqueenz) is backup guard, but has some IS and could function on SF, although he's a bit small.
Pfisterer plays in Turkey, but is probably not making any minutes. Because of his potential (10) i've brought him to the squad so i can follow his progression.

The boys to be saved
These guyse are on the squad, because their manager might soon be BOT. So, they will soon be available, try to get them on your team and train them to the max !!
- Kalvin Peischl, potential 10 (Alszeilenbuam, Manager Peter Elfmeter) (41988072)
- Peter Körner, potential 9 (Legion X, Manager Knecht) (41987911)

In total 15 players on the team, leaves 3 spots to 'save' some guys...

If i've missed any player, please contact me.

Regards,
Rovali

The European U21 Championship Tournament - Season 38

We are in Pool A. We are currently nr. 60 on the Worldrank. Our opponents will be:

Bosnia i Hercegovina (16)
Strong, wide roster with no exceptional players. Home advantage, as the tournament is played in Bosnia i Hercegovina.

Suomi / Finland (22)
Maybe the best team in the pool, have two good C's. (Currently 1 is listed)

Hrvatska / Croatia (23)
It looks like Croatia has a dip in their squad, isn't as good as it used to be. Gives us opportunities.
Or is their squad not yet complete ?

The Netherlands (40)
The game i look forward to. In my opinion even squads, can be fun. As i have a player in the dutch U21, i might get some 'inside information'.....

Sweden (39)
Not as strong as The Netherlands or Croatia, but still a dangerous team, which we can loose easily.

Norway (62)
Like Sweden, don't underestimate the Scandinavian teams....

Armenia (97)
Definitely the weaker team in the Pool....

Looking at this Pool i think Finland and Bosnia i Hercegovina will compete for the top-2.
Austria must battle with Croatia, Sweden and The Netherlands for 3. place....

Interesting and challenging Pool.

*** Austria U21 (60) - Finland U21 (22) 110-104

This tournament our first match was against one of the top countries in the pool, Finland.
Finland has got a strong roster, the best players being C's, but with strong PG and SG to feed them.

Analysing this roster and their last match, Finland wil probably play Inside. Therefore our defense
2-3 Zone, with an Inside Focus. Our offensive strategy motion.

With a little bit more effort, we've beaten Finland ! Great first result !

With a strong defense we've stopped their C and PF in scoring, allthough in rebounding we were weak,
something i've noticed also in the last few games. Buchegger is the only rebounder in the squad (14 this game).

Our offense paid of, Scheeberger on SF (34 pts) ans Weber (29 pts) were strong.

Next opponent: Croatia (23), who have beaten Norway today.

Hi everyone,

I'm still here. Bit busy with work / study / kids, so i didn't have time to write the game-reviews, i'd rather spend my time on scouting the opponents. Short recap of last season (s38).

In a pool of 8 we've won 4 out of 7 matches. This ranked as an 4th place, due to a worse Diff. than Suomi.
We started out great against Suomi, with an unexpected win. But next 3 matches we lost, without a change against Hrvatska and Bosna i Hercegovina. Against Holland we also lost due to a bad tactical guess of me.
The final 3 matches were no problem, won them all.

We had a bid of bad luck that our top-center Buchegger was transferred at the start of last season and his new managers played him full-time, what means bad GS. This didn't help in our diff.

We did close the season with a nice win against Bosna i Hercegovina, current nr. 8 of the U21 WR

At the end of the season we progressed from WR61 to WR48

Finaly, Kevin Weber made it to the all-time U21 Listing for players with most games played. Nice job, Kevin !!!

Still very motivated, next post will be next-seasons roster.
