Would you favor or oppose the Utopia draft which is not based on league standing.

Much like the NBA is considering, every team would get 1st round pick once every 16 seasons - since 16 team leagues. Etc for 2nd, 3rd round and so on - once every 16 seasons.

Since all teams get equal access to players, drafts would be grouped by the pick different managers have from different leagues/divisions in Utopia.

Managers with 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc picks go into one draft pool instead of pooling all managers together in their division. Also, merge all human managers together in the draft pools and bots would draft in their own pools.

Poll:  In Utopia - Draft Pick would rotate by season, not by finishing position within the division

Draft Pick by Rotation
Draft Pick by Division Standing

Also what happen to the teams coming after that rotational draft start ? What happen to the picks of the teams who left ?

Such thing might be an idea in the NBA and that is still an idea, but that's easier to work in a closed league of 32 professional teams.

That is a good point, I hadn't considered it.

Tanking for the draft isn't as done as you think. Nor do I think (so I might be wrong) it's that efficient to throw a season and demote for the draft.

I agree that currently it is a valid strategy - both for income and for draft.

However, much like the NBA, with a new league starting, I - and it may be I am in a small minority thus the poll - would prefer to see tanking lose as many incentives as possible.

In case someone wants to see the 'Wheel' draft here is the NBA Proposal.

It is not linear, but averages around the mean. I believe it is a solid foundation for a long term league, but others may disagree.

Regardless, I enjoy Buzzer Beater and an glad a 2nd league is forming.

I certainly see what you are aiming for with the suggestion, however; the big issue with this in BB is that teams will every season promote and demote in and out of leagues, so, unlike the NBA, each season a team could find itself in a different group of 16 and I think the tracking of draft position and rank in the new Division would be a nightmare if not impossible to get 'fair'.

I can't wait to get my team and have a crack... no matter what the rules. I think if BB wants to implement a new aspect and it comes with a choice, then awesome, if I like the new aspect and I want in, then great, if not, I would just hum along merrily doing what i have already been doing.

I think too many non-supporters feel too strongly about the changes and updates that happen to this game for their true contribution to the game.

Maybe the best thing could be uncertain draft, like nba has nowadays.

First season, I get the 16th pick. 16th season, I finally get the first pick. Happy me.

no, sir, you should inform yourself better about this issue. the rotational wheel the NBA is thinking for the draft is not a plain arithmetical succesion from 16, 15... to 1. it is a rotational wheel where every team gets a top 6 pick every 5 seasons, and at least a top 12 every 4 seasons. to see the actual order and explanation, you can check this article in Grantland.

inform, then comment.

I think people covered the big problem: how to deal with promoting and demoting teams.

I do think that tanking is and should be a valid tactic. However, it should only be a tactic for grabbing draftees (especially since the draft is such a crap shoot, I've seen drafts with no 5 ball potential 18 year olds and others with 3 or 4). It shouldn't be a tactic for making a boatload of money. This has been addressed a bit; a team tanking out of the NBBA used to be able to net a few million dollars. Now they have a salary floor. If anything, I would like to see tanking teams take a hit in attendance for that season and the next season (which for the most part they do).

Sometimes you need to rebuild, and it makes sense to get a good young player to build around, but your fans should get really pissed off at you.
