With both Billy Castro and Byron Hearn being selected to the United States National Team recently, does this mean we're one of the better D4 leagues?

Hey gigszoo welcome to the league!

I appreciate you taking the tjme to write on the forum.

I don't think we're necessary better than the other D4 leagues. Having a NT level talent on your team is nice but it has negative effects as well at this level. You really have to manage mins for him to be used in NT games so you can't play him as much as you want. Then you have have to account for their high salaries. Since they command so much money but can't be played all the time you are left with chappy cheap players playing more minutes... we're simply not capable of earning enough money to comfortably build a quality team at D4 level. I'm not complaining, just saying they make things a bit difficult at D4 level :)

Both were called up simply so the coach could see their skills and update the offsite database so we know what is in the pipeline. Neither are actually on the team nor will they be for a couple seasons. It is very rare for a 23-24yo to ever actually play on the team.

It says nothing about the level of your league but it does mean you have good managers in your league that understand training and player development given both guys were trained by their current owners. Maybe they'd share what they know....

PS: GoldenBear, I loved Castro in his U21 season! So much that my current trainee was almost a clone of him last season ;)

I appreciate that Hunterz. Castro didn't get me run but I'm glad he was able to hold a spot and help win Gold that season. How exactly were you cloning him? I wasn't aware people could see his attributes haha.

I do not remember his skills exactly nor would I post them in your league without consent but I will simply say that his strongest attribute at that time, well my guy had exactly the same value there near the mid-point of the season. :)

On the offsite there is a thread devoted to the discussion of lineups, possible players to call up, and tactics for each NT (both Junior and Senior) game. We elect a coach every other season but that doesn't me we make them do everything. We have members that help them scout and quite a few that all share their thoughts and opinions about our matchups so that the coach has different perspectives before he sets a given lineup. I was following the team that season so I vaguely remember Castro's skillset as I really liked it.

Oh well the way I see it happening is training your players up or collecting a lot of cash and buying the team you want. Personally I think training your players up gives you more control and is the better option. It takes time but once you have the players you want it should be smooth sailing haha.
