Hello all,

I used to very seriously play this game, and have trained players to U21 squads that won tournaments. I have not seriously played in over a year. I have 275k in reserves and one 22 year old who could likely fetch upwards of 300k on the transfer market. In my teams prime I was winning playoff games in div III, but I am now 0-12 in V having not set linups ect. should I sell my complete team and start new in IV next season or should I sell all but my trainee whos probably close to capping. I want to build through trainees, which I have successfully done in the past. Any input is appreciated. I am planning on taking this game seriously again, and want to train players in hopes of makeing U21 squads. Should I sell my entire team and buy a trainee or go through the draft since ill probably get the first pick anyway

I am set to make 70k per week once I find a new trainer to replace my rediciously overpriced trainer whom I hired 2 years ago.

You could probably sell those two 10k+ players I only make around 60k per week but my arena is half the size of yours, you could probably support keeping your 20 k player if you wanted to though. The DV salary floor is like 33k I don't know how bad the relegation penalty will hit you though. I hope you've been investing in the draft because at 0-12 you'd probably be alright. If you put together a decent roster with that 20k player you could probably slingshot your way back up into D4 pretty fast. Sell of fire some of your players and make room for this season's rookies and buy another decent trainee on the TL and you can train those players for a while and have yourself 3-4 pretty great players in a few seasons.

I dont feel that i need to keep my 20k player. If I buy 2 good trainees at the start of next season, and snag a playof spot i can buy my way out of div V. easily. I highly doubt many players can compete with me if i buy 2-3 15k players before playoffs with the two gaurd trainees who I hope to have at 12 OD. While I do not want to be in these lower divisions, I want to train players in hopes of making U21 squads, and it is hard to train more than one 18yo without good stats in a hard div IV or div 3.

What do you think?

I haven't been playing for longer than a season and a half but it sounds like a good plan, you can do it with the 20k player or without him. Your arena will give you an advantage over most of the teams in a D5 league unless you get screwed and end up in a league with another guy doing the same thing you are.

I changed my mind. During my time away, the transfer market has changed a lot. I am going to buy some macho players who are 33+ for very cheap and hopefully win my regelation series since the 6th place team in my division has only won like 2 games as well.

without being him, i can sortof answer this question.

For whatever reason at the current time, may teams have decided not only to devalue 33+ year old players, but to treat them as trash. What once looked to cost over 150k to grab a guy with sensational inside skills at age 34 now costs about 50-60k, and gets to be a good starter for another 16-20 weeks and eventually take a reduce role. Additionally, they are cap friendly.

additionally, his particular league requires about 2 wins for 7th place and 3 to perhaps 4 for 6th place on his side of the relegation. the 6th place team ironically has the easier team to match up against with just a few veteran purchases.

On the flipside, if it were me and i had lost all interest in this game, I think i'd want to just push the reset button and reinvest with a new group. Get's kinda stale if you have a group in place that you're trying to climb with and aren't making any progress, so starting over and hoping for higher ground can have it's own payoff. So it really does depend on the person.

Yes. Thank you. I have thought of restarting but I have a 22 y/o who can probably be sold for much more than the starting cash reserves amount so him alone makes restarting seem like a bad idea. Also, I am bound to get a good draft pick, which is another reason why I do not want to restart. Also, both starting over completely in d5 will take me a couple of seasons to regain my current standing and demoting is a bad idea because the only player who I would keep on my current roster would have a salary too big to support in D5.

I am going to make a run for 6th place because I know the team I will play in a regelation series seems to be in financial troubles and is therefore selling his best player(s) anyway.

I bought a bunch of old men who will happily take my opponents lunch money for at least this season to ensure that I do not demote. I have a big arena for D4, and can therefore carry more of these veteran players with big salaries. With my current roster, I am still pulling in 50k/week with 4 scouting points /week. Im still looking for a starting big man though...

During all-star break is a good time to add players. The missed game and less people in the cup means less cash around. Less competition to buy players. Also not a good time to list someone $1.
