Beyond me really
Getting ready for playoffs and gave away a regular training week for game shape.
Aside from keeping a recent pick up at respectable after 94 minutes
it was a big slap in the face, could easily have used 3 pops in OD.

one played 71 minutes and dropped from proficient to strong
One player played 67 minutes and stayed strong
a 3rd played 49 minutes and stayed the same

My top opponent for the playoffs saw 2 of his players improve by 2
and every one of his other starters improve by 1 no matter the minutes

Best example:
Our SF are almost mirror images as far as skills.
Both played exactly the same minutes (71)
His guy went from 7 to 9 and mine went from 9 to 8

I started the week with a clear advantage in game shape
and after training game shape, that is no longer the case
seems like a collosal waste of time, way too random for a training tactic and clearly unfair

I think that the effects of the minutes played are not linked directly in the week after but it's more a kind of average of the previous weeks; I mean that if you wanna have the best shape for the playoff you've to care about it 2 weeks before the training.
But I agree with you, training GS is a legendary waste of time

There's no way a player that started at proficient and played 71 minutes
that got game shape training should drop to strong
makes no sense at all

I cant agree with you because of what happened to me last season, my best player had played around 100 minutes because I forgot to set up my scrimmage lineup. He was already at Respectable and I trained GS and he went up to 8. Honestly if he was at 6 I dont think I would've promoted.

But then again I cant really answer how random it is only because I've trained it just once or twice when I really needed it, and it seemed to keep all of my players around the mid 8 GS point.

Maybe a Doctor with massage specialty can help? They go for about 10k and there salary is usually under 10k.

How can you not agree based on that one guy when my players prove some of the randomness of it all.
Your guy went from 6 to 8 on 100 minutes.
My guy went from 9 to 8 on 71 minutes
plus the other players I've outlined

My guy went from 7 to 8.
Have you kept track of their DMI's to see if his 8 GS is high?
For 9 GS its always hard to stay at 9, I've imagined that it can't stay there for more than 2 weeks. The reason being is that there is no higher sub level than 9 and GS is unsteady so you can see some drops. Maybe he is at 8.9 now?

By the way, is it just me or is BB's GS system getting more and more random? I've got a U21 player who plays 48 minutes every week, and suddenly one day he plunged from 9 GS to 7 GS with the same number of minutes and same training.

Maybe the player wants more minutes or a better role so decided to Sabotage you! :)

I think you just had an unlucky week. You should try looking at how the DMI changes when you train GS just to get a better idea. Ive trained game shape for the past two weeks now and all 8 of my rotation players except for one is at proficient so it works wondrous for me.

i totally disagree

there is a team in australia that had a roster of just 6 guys, was playing 3 games a week with them & all were still in respectable - strong gs each week despite playing 100+ minutes a week

it actually makes me sick that gs training is so good

it is just that proficient gs (9) is a very random thing 2 achieve u can never be sure

but u can be sure with gs training & good minutes every1 will be strong +

as for my take, GS at high level of prof can stay up to three weeks, i have experienced this twice with two different players, i usually alternate 48 minutes in one week and 75 minutes with the other week, i seldom get a drop of two levels - the randomness is still there but it is usually predictable - when I train GS i can usually go over 75 minutes a week without experiencing a significant drop...(when i say over it is only a few minutes)
