I train C/PF and was looking at the necessary skills (IS, ID, RB, SB). I was thinking that maybe training shotblocking was a little pointless since if you're really good at it you would get maybe 4 per game...and that would be amazing in itself. Basically my question is whether it is worth it to train shotblocking?

Since not training it will slow down the training of the other skills, yes, it's worth it.

There has been some debate over this in the past (i think it was democratic debate #17), but many feel that shot blocking effects the game more often than just when the defender actually blocks a shot.

Not sure myself...

I knew it trained the other skills, but just wasn't sure if I could simply train the other 3 faster by doing it more directly. I only asked the question since I have a NT trainee and shotblocking is coming up in my rotation following the all-star break.

What I'm saying is that not training it slows down the other skills since you'd have an unbalanced player.

Players with unbalanced skills train more slowly than balanced players.

what in your opinion is unbalanced??

Guards i imagine need all of the top 6 attributes plus i am leaning towards SB for them as well..

but C seem so random... if they dont have HD/PA do you think this will slow down their development or are you only talking about the Inside skills being balanced and anything else is a bonus.

sure - so you reckon even if the rest of the stats were atroc/pitiful this wouldnt affect the speed that these 4 skills trained at vs a C with much better HD/PA etc
