Am I the only one that thinks assists are really hard to come by in this game? It seems to me that in most leagues you rarely find the league leader with over 7 or 6 assists. I am just curious as to why that is, and why there seems to be no Nash or Rondos our there in BB. Do any of you think that if you trained a player to like 17 Passing, 17 OD, 17 HA, 17 DR, 9 JR, 8 JS that he would average double digit assits in a higher level league? I am just curious as to why thre are so few great passers in this game.

A lot depends on the offense that you run. You also have to have quality players who will make shots around the pg. I have never really had an issue with getting assists for you pg and sg in the past. Maybe that is because I always stress to keep passing as high as possible. I also value less turnovers more than an assist since it is harder for your opponent to score when they have less possessions. Finally you may want to target players who have at least mediocre passing even for your C and PF positions so that there is more of a chance for assists.

No you're right about this. PGs are underappreciated in Buzzerbeater. There are good PGs who average close to or over 10 APG but they are rare. Part of the reason is that people don't train passing all that much. There are a lot of guard skills to train and OD, JS and JR are preferred by most - so you'll find a lot of combo guards playing the point in this game. Otherwise if you create a Rondo like PG who is a great passer but can't shoot you'll find that he still takes a lot of shots and ends up with a shooting % of around 30-35.

The game engine doesn't reward such PGs so as things stand you're better off not creating a PG with the type of skillset you described.

I agree. A couple seasons ago when I promoted to division 4, I went without a loss, averaged a blowout by 40 or more points, and yet not one pf my player averaged more than 5 assists. I think that this is wierd.

During a blowout your players play reduced minutes. That could be why no one averaged above 5 assists

But, when I am training my gaurds, (all of the time) I play them for 48 minutes at PG. so only 1 PG is playing in a game most of the time.

Maybe it will change with time. I think that great passers should be rewarded in this game as they are in real life.

I hope so too mate. I love PGs like Rondo and Nash myself.
